Here's the Gala Event instrumental version of SWW. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDn55PUiBIw) Thanks to BonkBonk for putting it up on youtube.

There's something kinda organically cool about this version.

And what's MMM doing up there by Horovitz?

Awesome......Video's like this get me psyched up and just make me wish it was August 8th already. I really like this...:) Although I wouldn't really say that it's an instrumental because they are rapping....No?

And what's MMM doing up there by Horovitz?

At the show I saw, MMM came down front for SWW (bringing sexy back according to Mike) and then MMM did something that involved minimal activity with his fingers. I was standing underneath the stand he was using, but I assume it was some kind of keyboard-type thingy, because Adrock made keyboard-type movements on the same stand during other songs. Do they use small keyboards with preprogrammed sounds? Is that what the little keyboards do? They don't sound like the casio keyboards of the 80s.

Hampered again by my complete lack of musical aptitude. :p

Anyhow, MMM has a reduced role for the gala shows, so it's nice that he comes down front for one song.

I suspect that the regular shows will have SWW performed the regular way, but I hope you get some of the newer arrangements. It's still an amazing treat to get to see this band at a venue as small as the Greek. Enjoy!

not hating on the instrumental shows but this sounds like a bad cover version by some 40+ dudes tryin' to mimic the beasties.
imo they should be jumpin' around rappin' when performing sww.

i donīt agree at all ... i consider those instrumental songs as highlight. and the gala events are paradise for me.

instrumental version of "root down" ... some years ago they used samples of jimmy smiths song ... now they are playing it live with instruments, great! they donīt have to jump and rap around all the time ...

I'm very excited to see this performed. I am excited about both the idea and the execution of this one, although the sound and visual were not great on that post- it still was enough to get me amped to fell that in the crowd.:)

Just yours to deal with, I guess. I think it's the freshest thing they've done in years.

Yay! Thanks for the link! I never see quality videos of the shows I was at. Sometimes I look back and wonder whether it was as good as I remember. :p
