I bought my guitar amp in the mid east so the voltage on it says 230V~50Hz.
I haven't used it since I've been in the states and of course, we're at 110V.
Not sure if this thing is dual voltage cause most things that are say 110-220V.
If I plug this thing in the wall, will it fry?
It will most likely just not work, since it doesn't get enough juice.
Plugging in 110V stuff in Europe is what makes things fry.
as long as the voltage is lower than the needed level (230) all that could go wrong is that it won't work since there's not enough voltage.
if you do it the other way though, things could definitely fry.
this should be basic facts and logics. it makes sense and it's been like that in my experience. though i ain't no professor.

Yeah, I was thinking the higher voltage would fry it. My experience being that I went to plug in a 110V charger into an outlet of a hotel in China.
Fucking thing sparked, took the whole room power out as well as 3 other rooms down the hall.
I also fried a 110V Xbox when plugging it into a 220V. The display wasn't as spectacular though. Just had a funny smell and a little bit of smoke.

I'm surprised you can plug it in, anything that runs on 220v, like an Air Conditioner or a Dryer, usually has a three pronged plug in a triangle formation. The third plug is a ground line.
110v stuff usually has the normal two pronged plug.

Well, shit. It works. It's not as loud as it was back then but I suppose it's cause the lower power level.
TAL, you were the first to help out and I'd offer you a beer but if I remember correctly, you don't drink so. I'm offering you some of my wife's homemade steamed dumplings if I ever make it to your parts.
tpk, I suppose I'll get ya a beer. And a wig.:D

Yeah, my amp has a two prong but they're round and tightly spaced. Being a traveling type person, I've got a universal adapter kit.
Only soft rock with that amp from now on :)
Yes, no beer for me.

Haha, believe me, I do venture in the realms of "soft rock" but, being that I'm me, I have already found the means of tweaking the amp to my mortal mentality of brutality.
Believe me brother, I see that you're always one of the first to respond with some good answers up in here.
I would have to say my wife's steamed dumplings>>>>>>>>>>beer anyday.
