I found this great site for female vintage formal items. If you are in the market for outfits (some vintage couture) for the upcoming Gala Events, please refer to:

It has some discoloration on it, which, owing to the checkered pattern, is hard to see unless you get up close. Which, honestly, who's gonna? You can see it in the close-up photo below. I haven't tried to have it laundered, so maybe these discolorations would clean off. Even if they do, though, it's not like you'll be wearing this to the country club for brunch -- unless your reservation is in 1968.

God this thing is soo perfect for a Gala Event it's sick, and it's priced to move at two bits!

What wonderful dresses!
My mum had some really lovely dresses (she was a teenager in the 50's) and I loved wearing them. I'm glad I found the one (http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8616/galainparisgm9.jpg) I did for New Years eve (there isn't that many around for my size...) so I had something to wear for the gala in Paris, it even turned the Parisians head.

those of you from san francisco surely know about "la rosa", haight street: my friend julie took me there because she needed a dress for a wedding party. I normally get bored waiting for other people to shop, but there I spent a pretty good hour staring at gorgeous dresses...

From newsletters:

for Boston
On Sunday, August 5th, we will be performing a very exclusive and explicit, once in a lifetime GALA EVENT show to celebrate Adam Yauch's 43rd birthday @ the Boston Opera House! This goes above and beyond our usual already formal gala event. We are talking velvet seats, velvet ropes, and champagne and strawberries people. Dress to impress and take a photograph with that special someone in a wicker chair, oh what? Needless to say, proper dress is mandatory. We look forward to having you join us for this truly special celebratory evening.

for other shows:
Anyways, if you'd like to come to one of these shows, then dress to impress, wear a suit, a tie, a dress, your granma's broach or whatever you feel good in... BUT PLEASE leave your cargo shorts, birkenstocks and t-shirts at home, this is not that kind of party.

So again, please dress to impress, y'all

Only a handful of people will be dressed up. Don't make your friends do anything they're uncomfortable doing.

The band can't see anything you're wearing from the nipples down because of the crowd and the rail, so wear comfortable shoes.

i'm not the biggest douche in the universe(see south park), but for a day i was the biggest douche on the message board...yup, that's me guyute88...a bit of a dxxk, but not a total a-hole...and i'm going to be having plenty of fun at the party...hope i don't get kicked off the board again for admitting that...but the only reason i came back, was to find a trade for my pool ticket, and i just found one...so, if i do get booted, again, it's understandable...everybody "get excited" august is almost here...
