It's kind of amusing, but on the other hand, kind of sad. It's like "He lied about this!" "Nuh-uh, I was telling the truth! YOU lied! Take it back!" Squabbling back and forth.

It keeps me busy at work, at least.

I was thoroughly entertained by that!

And Moore just released a letter claiming victory, because CNN admitted to two errors. He doesn't make any mention of the fact that CNN refuted his other claims.

"You're a doodyhead, CNN!"
"Nuh-uh, you're a doodyhead!"
"Shut up, I win!"

I know Moore would be roped into these sorts of petty fights, that's what he thrives on. But CNN? I lost respect for them.

This one especially pissed me off:

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN: "(Moore says) the United States slipped to number 37 in the world's health care systems. It's true. ... Moore brings a group of patients, including 9/11 workers, to Cuba and marvels at their free treatment and quality of care. But hold on -- that (World Health Organization) list puts Cuba's health care system even lower than the United States, coming in at No. 39."

"The Truth" (from Michael Moore's Web site):

"But hold on? 'Sicko' clearly shows the WHO list with the United States at number No. 37 and Cuba at No. 39. Right up on the screen in big 5-foot letters. It's even in the trailer! CNN should have its reporter see his eye doctor. The movie isn't hiding from this fact. Just the opposite.

CNN RESPONSE:

Moore appears unhappy with Gupta's use of the phrase, "But hold on."

Moore appears to be creating an issue where none exists.

Gupta and Moore agree that the U.S. ranks 37th and Cuba ranks 39th on a WHO report. Gupta in his fact check says this is true.

And Gupta never said Moore didn't convey that Cuba was 39th, even though the verbal emphasis at that point in the movie is a comparison between the United States and Slovenia.

Well yeah, it IS an issue if you say "But hold on" because you're implying that he's a liar and decided to omit that fact, which he didn't. I don't think he created an issue where none exists, the way the guy reported it and said "But hold on!", it's obvious that he's acting like Moore never mentioned it. CNN is just trying to save face.

Both are right in some ways, both are wrong in others. It's just really petty and stupid the way CNN is responding, I think.

Both are right in some ways, both are wrong in others. It's just really petty and stupid the way CNN is responding, I think.

Moore has not appeared on a single national TV show for nearly 2 and 1/2 years.

After the attacks I had to endure three years ago, from a media intent on questioning my patriotism because I dared to speak out against the war when none in the media would, I decided I had had enough and would simply concentrate on making my next film. I had no desire to participate in networks that were complicit in the war because of their refusal the challenge the commander in chief.
Michael Moore (from his website (http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?id=217))

And really, I have to question CNN on the value of gleaming anything other than a corporate slanted point of view on the planet earth. I would question CNN's patriotism over Michael Moore's any day. They have done zilch for enlightening anybody on healthcare in the USA. Unless your looking for ads about Ambien CR and Lunesta. Good Night America, slumber away guilt free.

PBS is the last bastion for TV journalism.

The bills are paid by the people who are against this guy...what did you think would happen?

The sad part is I am sure alot of time and money and effort went in to making Moore look like he was fudging the facts or being untruthful and this was the best they could they come up.

"We know the healthcare system in America is bad but..." they lost me RIGHT there.

Michael Moore has caused more discontent and arguments in the political realm of U.S. politics the past 7 years than any one figure I can think of outside this current administration.

What does that tell us about our political opposition to George Bush?

They presidential candidates work inside his realm to convey they're political beliefs. His template is a success politically. Even if his policies are complete and utter failures that damage the whole premise of America.

And now media coverage is going to become even more compliant. (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/324269_dowjonesmurdoch19.html)

michael moore was 100% right and correct in this squabble, and dr. sanjay gupta and cnn came out looking like really biased, pro-corporate/pharmaceutical industry idiots. before gupta filed his report, moore's research team was in constant correspondence with gupta's producer, and emailed him all of the correct facts that were used in sicko. however when gupta's report aired on anderson cooper 360, it neglected the facts which were emailed to gupta's producer. gupta felt the need to attack moore, and public health-care systems in other countries, by making it appear that moore "fudged the facts" in sicko, which he didn't, and by interviewing a pro-corporate right-winger as an "expert", who previously donated money to bob corker's senate campaign, who essentially babbled about how great the american health-care system is, and how evil public health-care is. moore even pointed all of this out on larry king live, when he appeared with gupta, but gupta just kept smirking throughout it and came across as a really smug and arrogant jackass, who also showed his bias by taking shots at public health-care systems in canada, britain, france and germany, how there are "waiting times" and "higher taxes". well duh, of course there are waiting times, there are going to be waiting times for virtually anything, and my taxes aren't that high at all, and i have no qualms about paying taxes for universal health-care, as opposed to pointless, foreign wars which only benefit mega corps like halliburton et al. anyways, it just goes to show you what you get when media outlets are owned and controlled by major corporate conglomerates, who then want their news operations to turn a profit.

gupta and cnn got owned:
