For anyone that listened to the King Adrock interview on Mic-to-Mic, what do you get out of all of it?

Guest vocals with Snoop and MIA for "The Mix-Up"...

AND! A NEW BEASTIE ALBUM begins in OCTOBER!

This is compelling!

Two albums in two years?

Doubt it on the new album.

I hope they re-cut and looped up parts of the Mix Up (I'm sure they would have) so it's not just dumping words over songs where there's no room really for vocals a majority of the time.

I'm hoping for some midwest concert dates before they start recording...

I'm just hoiping it isn't just guest vocals. If I want to hear other artists I'll buy their CD! I can live with the likes of Q-Tip rapping with BB.

there's that newfangled version of the mix up coming. that might be what they mean about a new album.

I just listened to the interview, and it sounds to me like there will be a Guest Vocals album for TMU, and they are starting to work on a new Beastie Boys Album in October!

I still doubt it.

How can you doubt it? It is very clear what their plans are! There is no reading between the lines, That is what Adrock has said, new cd being worked on in October. The Mix Up has gone out to various artists and they will see what happens with that.

"What are you doing with the computer!?!?"

haha, great interview. entertaining and informative.

sounds like the new album is on. this is the third time, that i've counted, that they've mentioned the immediate return to the studio after touir for more recording. what do they plan for september, though. more extensive U.S. touring perhaps? Resting?

guest vocals doesnt count as a new album...i would expect a regular album out by spring 08.....get anthony kiedis for guest vocals, that would be phat otherwise stick to the B Boys doin their own vocals

the guest vocals talk, and the new album talk are two different things.

The Beastie Boys are pretty much the ONLY Hip Hop group that does not have to rely on OTHER artist to sell records.

I hope if they are doing a remix of The Mix Up with guest vocals, I hope it isn't too much. Their aren't too many good rappers out there anymore.

Their [sic] aren't too many good rappers out there anymore.

Only someone who doesn't really listen to hip-hop would say something like that; the Beastie Boys do and I'm sure they'll have no trouble finding good MCs, singers, whoever, to contribute if this thing pans out.

I still doubt that it's going to happen. I'm allowed to doubt it. We'll see.

It features guest vocals from: M.I.A., Snoop Dogg, Lucian, Bad Brains, Zach De La Rocha, 2D from Gorillaz, De La Soul, Garbage, Rza, Jurrassic 5, Fatboy Slim, Macy Gray, Morgan Heritage, Bob Marley, The X-Ecutioners, Beck, Radiohead, Dizzie Rascal, OutKast, Bjork, Blackalicious, Weezer, Nelly Furtado, Gnarls Barkley, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Gil Scott-Heron, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Charlie Murphy.

Let me know which songs you like and which one you don't.
Enjoy!

the new beastie's album could be in any genre.

yes, i'm even suggesting that their new album could be a Spoken Word album. it could be an audiobook telling the tale of a lost dog finding its owner.

no 2 beastie's albums have ever sounded the same, CYH and IC were closest, but even then there are big differences.

i don't even know what to expect from them, but whatever it is, i'll be first in line to buy it haha

Hmmm... There are still a few damn good rappers out there. Edan and Mr Lif (from Boston) are dope and would be a good look on a beasties album, especially Edan. Pharoahe Monch is dope. Q Tip still has it. MF Doom is incredible.. Not sure about MIA though. I know Mike D has been going on about her but I'm not massively into her... Still, plenty of talent out there to choose from I reckon.
