if someone asks you "what are your weaknesses?" do you think it would be inappropriate to say "diabetes"?

assume you don't actually have diabetes

Just say 17th century european literture. I actually said that in my interview and have been with same company for 10 years.

I wouldn't bring up anything medical as a weakness unless it's a way to broach a topic that would absolutely affect your job. (24/7 dialysis, allergic to Torte, etc.)

I think what you're supposed to do is spin a weakness into eager opportunity. "I am an independent self-starter, which has worked very well in the past, but I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to learn team skills including partnership and leadership; that will help me be a more well-rounded, effective lawyer."

Maybe. Something like that?

...or just say "Posting lots of personal data on internet message boards like beastieboys.com." That sort of transparency does wonders.

If you had to tick one box --

Don't know.

-- well, let's say you can't tick "Don't know."

Nobody works in this town without a retainer, guys. You think you can find somebody who does, let me tell you, you have my blessing. But I think we all know that person is not going to represent you as well as I can.

Retaaaaainer!

retainer

allegedly, youre situation, for you, would be concurrently improved, if I had two hundred dollars in my back pocket right now.

Let me tell ya something. You're suspect! Yeah you. I don't know what your reputation is in this town, but after the shit you tried to pull today you can bet I'll be looking into you.

Good day gentlemen. And until that day comes keep your ear to the grindstone.

Poor Bob. I was a disaster at all of my early interviews. You will get better with practice.

What did they ask?

it seemed like a really short interview (i think maybe 20-30 minutes, i didn't really watch the clock), sort of informal. it was weird, they kind of had a good-cop bad-cop thing going on. the woman was really nice and friendly and cheery, but the guy kind of reminded me of sipowitz from NYPD blue. he looked kinda bored, he kept like putting his elbow on the table, or leaning back in his chair, i dunno, it was weird.

i honestly can't quite remember what they asked. i think there was a "why do you want to work here, as opposed to some other place", and there was a "which class that you've taken has had the biggest impact on you", i wasn't prepared for tha tlast one.

it ended sort of abruptly, too, like they were hurrying me out the door. i mean, i was happy to leave, i don't like interviews, but it did seem like they had heard all they wanted to hear, for better or for worse.

i think though, that i'm the only applicant for the position, so maybe that made things different? there's only one other applicant from my school, and she was recently offered a job at a different place, so if she took that, i would be the only one. so, you know, i've got a chance, but i dunno. we'll see.

It's according to what kind of job your being interviewed for.

When I was being interviewed for a few jobs I wasn't really interested in: I turned the tables and started interviewing them. To see if they were up to my standards. You'd be amazed but if you go in with that attitude and you bring that sort of confidence to the table~ They'll want you.
