An ice cream van in my last work neighborhood was a beautifully surreal thing.

Beat up van, almost duct-taped together, surly middle eastern guy driving it, a chiming but really dying version of "Dixie" warbling from the speaker. I mean, this sounded like a music box that was spooling out about the last three turns of life it had left in it.

I wish you all could have seen it. If I could give this board one gift, it might be that.

They don't even play tunes on my van anymore. It runs so regular the locals (especially those buying recreational drugs) are waiting for it just as it arrives.
