dont know the reason.. first she was walking weird i thought maybe she broke a leg (too), i picked her up and looked if i could see something. well her butt was dirty and i thought hopefully she didnt get owned by maggots (aswell) but my mum and i cleaned her but we couldnt find any
she was dirty cause she had a diarrhoea then we got her back into her cage and she didnt do much, i gave her her favorite food but she didnt eat it and a few hours later she was just dead :(
yesterday she was looking all healthy and normal
cant tell if it's worse that she unexpectly died or that my bunny (who is actually really mine) is all alone now :( they were real good buddies, maybe sisters even
ill try to cuddle with her as often as possible and i got some fake toy bunnies into her cage, is there anything else i could do that she wont be so lonely? maybe im wrong but she looks kinda sad
i love my little bunny princess so damn much and i would do everything for her
this really sucks, my other bunny just died 1 and half months ago..

quite seriously, you may have a bunny virus. any thing that kills that quick is usually a virus
how many did you have all together? 3?
I know there's some issue with you Mom not wanting to take care of the animals by taking them to the vet, but I would take the one that is still living to be checked out ASAP. I mean like now. I don't want to see yu loose your rabbit, espcially if it can be avoided. if they were kept in the same cage you should clean it and get the healthy rabbit out of there.
I mean isn't there a ASPCA? maybe that's not an internationl organization...but an animals shelter...with vets? here if you don't have alot of money you can often take your pet to one of the vets at some of the shelters.
I'm not trying to be mean or attack you, but I just don't understand why your mom thinks it's ok to have animals when she doesn't want to or can't pay for thier medical care.:(
This board has had its sad moments recently. What up with that?
I didn't even know rabbits played with toys. Thats pretty cool. What isn't cool is that your other bunny is munching on carrots and fucking like...well rabbits, in rabbit heaven. Actually its cool for the rabbit.
Sorry duder.
Get another bunny for your bunny to be buddies with.

ill ask my mum about the virus thing
and i dont understand my mum either..we live in a small apartment but she had to buy 2 huge ass dogs and 3 bunnies.. and she said that we had more money back then so she then didnt think about such problems
i dont know if bunnies like to play with toys but i got her some so she wont be that lonely, didnt do it for the entertainment. so far she gave the fake bunny a few kisses
and no more bunnies, i love them but they live too short and my bunny is old and it would be tough finding another bunny her age that she likes and what if she or the other bunny lives longer? (likely that they wont die at the same time) then theres the same problem and it would become a never ending story

That sucks Randy, sorry :(
My history teacher gave me a rabbit in the 7th grade, but it died shortly after. It was morbidly obese...I'm thinking that's why. His son must have been feeding it Snickers bars or something.

Whenever one of my bunnies sees a toy one they just chew it up and use the stuffing as bedding. They don't understand it's a bunny shape. Human contact, being groomed, will mean more to a rabbit.
The problem is rabbits don't make good pets (trust me, I've taken in over 20 over the years) they are prone to all kind of bugs and disorders, but most of all, are horribly over bred. I've had two live long lives, one was 12 and other 14, and the one I have now is 9 and going strong. It's no coincidence that these three were all from 'wild-ish' stock, and not just a pet shop. None had a problem with wet noses, bad teeth. Those I've been given with stupidly engineered lop ears have never made it past 7 or so. Most die before 4.
Nearly all of mine have been rescue cases, and the ones that die young are the ones that spent most of the day in a hutch. A wooden box cannot make up acres of countryside and a large family unit. To keep a rabbit happy it needs to be given space to run in every day, and rabbit food is a total load of crap. Wild rabbits eat grass and plants all day, processed food is full of protein that messes with their organs and digestive tracts.
I gave a resuce bunny a load of hay once and it shat blood for two days as nothing decent had passed through it before. It was amazing to see the difference in behaviour and appearence when it was on a good diet.
I give mine room to graze during day light hours in a large mesh run, and hay to eat at night, and cabbage leaves or a carrot/apple. I give them a tiny handfull of rabbit food every couple of days. If the weather is really bad they have a run about in the barn instead. As long as it's not a huge temp change, a rabbit can come in the house for a run about.
Poo can tell you a lot. It should be big, round, firm balls with visible fibres in it. It shouldn't smell bad.
There's loads of bunny info on the net, have a search and good luck.

When one of our old dogs died, our younger dog who had grown up with the older dog cried. I mean literally. her eyes watered and she wined and wined for a whole day. she was really upset. So I think animals greive. they've done some research to suggests that Elephants recognize the bones of other elephants from thier herd that have died even years after they've passed and they react strangely.
So I think your bunny will be sad for a few days...but eventually she'll get use to being on her own.
and hopefully you can convince your mom that a check up for bunny is in order. I don't know maybe you should scare her and say that if it's a virus how do you know it's not harmful to humans? Convince her that bunny flu is the new bird flu or something.
oh, and I had a pet bunny once too.

yeah i got my bunny from a pet shop well it was a b day present
and they live/d 97% of their lifetime in cages but in 2 big ones atleast..back then i was too young to know that our apartment is not really bunny friendly and i didnt even say that i want a bunny for my bday, i just got it
atleast we try to get the healthiest food for her
kinda heartbreaking to see my bunny giving the fake bunny kisses but the fake one wont give some back, asshole!

bunnies actually have quite a lot more personality than most people realize. the problem is most people keep them locked up in a little box so they never see that personality. if given run of the house they will run around and play... id say kind of like cats. i although, it would probably be best to only let them run around when there is supervision, or make sure they have lots of proper chew toys so they dont eat electrical wires or anything.
and yes, animals do grieve. give your bunny lots of love an attention. i would even reccomend getting it a bunny, but only after you make sure its healthy and if you find out what killed your bunny today and it was a virus, make sure you sterilize everything and get everything safe and clean for any new pets.
im sorry. the loss of a pet is always terrible. my dog died when i was in 10th grade because my mom was too cheap to take her to a vet. she had stomach problems, really bad diarhhea and vomiting, and eventually died, of dehydration im sure. whats worse, she was an inside dog and my mom left her outside cause she kept making messes in the house. finally, my mom felt bad for her and let her in, she walked up the stairs really slowly and got inside, and my mom went to pick me up from school and when i got home she was dead. i locked myself in my room the rest of that day, and cried at random for like the next 4. i know it can be hard, especially when you want so badly to help them and something prevents you from doing so. *hug*

thanks
well i did some research but couldnt find something that really fits with the symptoms
maybe she died because of the diahrrea, it's much more dangerous for bunnies than humans and it said something that bunnies can die from it in a few hours or maybe it was a heat stroke, it's real hot here but that wouldnt explain the diahrrea nor the weird walking
i would feel much better if i knew the reason why she died so i can make sure that the same thing wont happen to my left over bunny
ill do some more research tomorrow

Hey Randall I'm sorry to hear that.
When I was 5 we had two rabbits. The same cunt German Shepherd of ours (that mauled me, and did nothing when our pub got broken into) broke into their cage in front of me and dismboweled them to my obvious delight.

i wonder how i would feel like if my dogs killed my bunny, probably would hate them for a while or forever, fuck nature and instinkts! but they are in seperated rooms anyway
my mum went to the pet shop and told what happend and the woman there said that an ass load of bunnies died lately because of the heat
i try to cool my bunny with water and make sure she drinks enough and theres a blower near her, shes been hiding in her tunnel all day, poor emo bunny
i think the other bunny died because of an organ break down/debility of age + the heat = too much

no
like i said, i love them but they dont live long enough and this apartment isnt very bunny friendly
from now on ill only get pets that live 100+ years like parrots or turtles and the potato option sounds kinda sexy too

maybe, her butt was all poopy
not sure if it really was diarrhea, my mum says something else all the time and im no poop expert
another theory is that she probably died of dehydration, i noticed that the bunnies didnt drink much lately for some reason

anyway.. seems likes she really died of dehydration and a following organ break down (n)
which means she would be still alive if i cared more about her and my bunny wouldnt be alone now, i feel horrible
i had bunnies for 7 1/2 years now and i should be more informed about them, well now it's too late..

dont feel bad. if they werent drinking, there was a reason. you can't FORCE them to drink. i'm sure you cared about your bunny tons, and you shouldn't feel like this is your fault. especially with your mom unwilling to get your bunny medical care. this brings me back to my dogs... i told you about the one that died... she got a virus called parvo, actually, that breaks down the intestines and is incredibly painful, so a dog with parvo stops eating or drinking and dies of dehydration. id say its almost guaranteed that a dog with parvo will die. to have a chance, they have to be in good health otherwise, and you have to know whats wrong with them and get them to the vet fucking fast.
my dog jack got parvo when he was about 1. we took him to the vet an initially said they thought he had worms, but i had done a lot of research and decided it was parvo. when he got worse, me and my dad rushed him to an emergency vet at night and said we thought he had parvo. they got him on IV fluids immediatly. he pulled though, but he was at the vets for at least a week and a half. it cost a looot of money, but he survived. the damage from the virus gives him a very sensitive digestive tract though. he has to eat special food now thats like $11 for a 4 lb bag. for a long time we just fed him high quality puppy food but that wasn't cutting it anymore
the point it, i dont know what your bunny had, but maybe theres like a bunny equivelent. my first dog died of dehydration. i KNEW she was dehydrated and id bring her water and milk and try my hardest to make her drink and she woudlnt. the only reason jack survived was cause we got him to the vet pretty fast and were lucky, he was also a young healthy pup. if your bunny decided it didnt want to drink, it wasnt going to, and by the time you knew it was a serious problem, it was getting late to help it, and with your mom not wanting to take it to a vet, there was really nothing you could have done.
just give your remaining bunny lots of love. keep track of how much it eats and drinks, and do what you can for it. the best you can do for it isnt always everything you want to do for it, but some things cant be helped. i wish you and your bunny the best
also, being depressed can make animals eat less, just like people, so trying to make her happy could help with the eating enough.

yeah but youre supposed to keep the bunny's body cool when it's hot like here right now but i didnt do it cause i didnt know you had to do that, i thought bunnys + water are a bad combination, like you shouldnt bath them and shit
seems like many people didnt know that since lots of bunnies died because of a heat stroke lately but that really doesnt makes me feel better..
