I haven't read the last one, I did read the ones before that but fuck all if I can remember what happened in them or be brought to really give a crap.
It's interesting to see everything happening though and think about how this is such a big cultural event for the world.
Thoughts?

I might get into cartoons and shit but I don't dig children's books. That lady is fucking lucky the world is so weird.
Ytmnd is getting legal threats for having so many spoilers dropped by its users. That's about as far as I care.

I'm currently re-reading the last one as it's been ages since I have read it and I placed my order on amazon for the new one yesterday. I'm not that bothered if I find out the ending before I read it myself.

I've been told the movies aren't bad, and I've been told the books are decent. But I sort of agree with Hairnest; it's too fun to upset people. I'll never cave.

I resisted for ages and then at a friend's house with a hangover, she put the first film on. She got me when I was vulnerable - the bitch.
And to be honest, I have just finished Billy Clinton's epically long auto-bio and am enjoying the fluff of HP very much.

The third one (Azkaban) is pretty decent up until the ending, which kind of blows all the logic of everything to hell.
But the director, Alfonso Cuarón, did a nice job with the look of everything, and a GREAT job with these shifty things called Dementors (?).

That's also me, plus I'm just finishing book 6 right now as I thought I'd better re-read is as I forgot what a horcrux was.
My brother bought me the first book when it came out, he raved about it and I refused to read it out of spite. Then when staying with my mum on a cold day she put the film on and I was totally hooked.
I intend to do nothing but read the whole book tomorrow. A friend of mine has two teenage kids and she's ordered three copies so they don't have to share, and can all read it at the same time.
Regardless of what people say about it being a kids book, the adult versions especially are well written, and the kids ones don't talk down to kids at all. They do wonders for kids vocabulary in my experience.

I still haven't read any, though a friend of mine and a couple of her kids are awfully big on them.
I saw the first, third, and fourth movies and liked the third. Overall, I just kinda can't get with the storytelling.
Don't know if the books are like the movies, but... the stories have either serious gaffes, plotwise, or serious gaffes as far as just the writing goes.
For instance -- without spoiling anything -- in the first movie, we basically have two hours plus of Harry being just handed "victory" after "victory" after "victory." Nothing's ever really at stake; it's nuts.
The third one drives me crazy because of a device that's used that -- well, hell, it just makes the entire series redundant. And not in a good Ocean's 12 kinda way. :D
It's more genuinely interesting than Paris Hilton, though, I can say that. (y)

I think it was the third film that I thought was really good...is that the one with the hippogriff thing, the eagle/horse? That was extremely well done.

I'm going out with someone to get the book tommorow who has been a fan for a while and I'm picking it up so I can see how it all ends.
They got so much crap to cram in though that it's probably going to be over 700 pages.

***SPOILERS***
Someone is going to get date raped in the final book which Rowling confirmed on radio.
They haven't said who but it always makes me laugh when people call it children books now because of that.

19 years after the events in the book:
Ron has married Hermione, their two children are named Rose and Hugo
Harry has married Ginny, their three children are named Lily, James, and Albus severus.
Draco Malfoy has a son named Scorpius
The epilogue shows all of the children boarding the train for Hogwarts together.
The final lines of the book are: "The scar had not pained Harry for 18 years. All was well."
Part of Voldemort's soul was implanted into Harry whenever he used Ara Kadvara on him when he was a baby. Harry then sacrafices himself a la Lilly Potter style, which allows him to kill Voldemort without killing himself. He brings himself back to life using a wand and a rock
Snape went to the good side (Hogwarts, etc.) because he was all emo that Voldemort killed Lilly Potter

Haha! I lost a friend on Myspace today because of broadcasting the spoilers as the title of a bulletin.
