I'm kinda hurt that "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" was negged on the live treatment tip this tour. Given that it was one of the only two tracks on Paul's boutique to include live instrumentation, not to mention it totally rocks, that it wouldn't get the gala regiment is definitely a disappointment.
Aside from the song title, the lyrics really dont supercede the tongue-in-cheek, "its just a joke" vibe that the bboys tend to dodge in these late days.
And if that shoddy rationalization doesn't sell ya, just think how dope would it be to see Yauch and Rock rippin' that main LDTBOAG riff at high decibels in your face in the pit of a hot Gala Event show. Word.
I'm starting the petition, THE REVOLUTION......right....................now.
Not to say I feel short changed, In fact I feel blessed already with the great tracks they've already chosen to re-incorporate into their set, but do y'all feel like there are any other songs you'd like to see that, logically, they could have revamped for the gala event?.................Funky Boss..........Peanut Butter & Jelly............Stand Together................

Again, not to take anything away from the way it all sounds as a whole, cause it sounds great when they do the live gala thing. But as each one does the vocals, little bits of the music suffer. It's understandable, and the whole arrangement is dope enough to carry it. But I doubt they're going to play that riff, while hopscotching between lines (as opposed to verses), and remembering where each piece fits, on top of playing that rolling beat.
Just sayin. It works on those simpler tunes for sure. Do It sounds >>>than So Watcha Want for my money tho. One song I'd love to hear it done to would be professor booty, as they could play under Adrock's verse, pause a little (maybe fill the gap with a little scratching or something) for Fredo to take over the traps for Mikes verse, do the same stall as Mike gets back to the drums for MCA's verse. I dunno.
Funky Boss I could just see them playing. It doesn't really demand revamping, and it would be awesome if they did it. Stand Together, with Horovitz guitaring and Mark doing a little organ loop while Yauch handles vocals solo perhaps.

Barrel of a Gun would make a sick instrumental for them to play though. Maybe just doing the chorus.

I want to request on all of your behalf; Flowin Prose (Adrock on Bass, with percussion, drums, keys and weird noisy cross-fader shit like the album) to give mister Yauch some time to shine.
Furthermore, Professor Booty, again to give those wonderful verses a trot around the paddock. Now, this could be the traditional hip-hop cut, yes, or it could be a swapping and jumping around equipment live type of thing.
The thing I wonder about is that as soon as something is suggested to the Beastie Boys, that's when you know they won't do it.

I'll sign this petition for Barrel.
And I'll add a request for a live Johnny Ryall. It's a simple enough beat and riff that I think they could pull it off.

great idea for LDTBOG
also like the idea for "funky boss"!
what about busting out the acoustic for a little instrumental of i dont know or "20 questions", or maybee a cover of "benny and the jets" with mark on the organ and on vocals
i am happy with the setlist right now, but i would love to see more "futtermans rule"

A cover of 'SuperFly' would be dope.

i dont know
YES!!! I Don't Know would be my top gala request, perfect for a jazzy small-venue show.
As far as Barrel goes, good point that it's proably too much to jump between lines, not just verses, while playing live. Still . . . I enthusiastically sign the petition cause that riff live would be HOT.
And if nothing else i'd love to hear the perfectly reversed "42's my age . . ." (which, based on imdb and my math, works until Yauch's birthday on august 5th ... so they better act fast!!)
