I saw that not too long ago and I thought that was hilarious!
This looks like it'll be a hoot.

Can't decide what I think of this. Wes Anderson has become such a caracature of himself stylistically.
All his movies seem identical just in new locals and new people.
Rushmore is his only movie that I still LOVE.

Yeah, I suppose. Life Aquatic took some time to grow on me.
I guess I just mean his movies have gotten to the point where you pretty much know what to expect. Weird characters with "funny names" who talk at each other not to each other. Scenes come to a grinding halt so some song wes anderson loves can play and then a profound life lesson is learned seemingly out of nowhere after which we wrap things up with a nice slow-motion tracking shot.
that being said, I see Natalie Portman is in this and that seems cool. Also, it apparently comes out in September. I like that. Usually, they hold his films til Christmas.
though there's still plenty of time to push it back.

Mr. Films, I'm kinda with you, actually. Except I still haven't loved any of his movies. Some stuff I've really liked about them, but I don't think he's hit one out of the park yet. Rushmore is probably closest, but I think Royal T's is the one that coulda been.

Yeah, Rushmore is def the best one in my opinion. Royal's started off really really strong but as the movie went on it seemed to become clear (at least to me) that they had no rock solid idea of where they were taking the story. The scenes became more and more disjointed. Which seems to be the overall problem with Life Aquatic, too.

I understand exactly what you're saying, except that part about Natalie Portman. This almost looks like it's making fun of Wes Anderson, which doesn't mean I wouldn't like it. In fact I probably will.

Natalie Portman actually only appears in a 15 minute short that immediately precedes the film, called Hotel Chevalier. It's just her and Jason Schwartzman in it. Apparently, he undresses her at some point during the film. And there is bum. Hers. Not his. Well, maybe his too, but that has yet to be confirmed. Not that I would care.
That being said, Rushmore is probably the greatest movie that ever walked the face of the earth.
