so the past few years i have played the bartender to my family on vacation, and this year they want to try long islands one day.

i've never made them, and rarely drink them, so i don't know what to do.

any suggestions on recipe varients?

these will be made as a pre meal cocktail at the beach, if that makes any difference

1/2 ounce gin
1/2 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce light rum
1/2 ounce Tequilq
the rest is: sweet & sour (or you can use plain lemon juice) some coca cola, give it a stir and then you can top it off with a triple sec float.

ok here's mine - i used to manage a beach bar, and made these for the ladies. they dug it.

1 oz vodka
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz bacardi light rum
1/2 oz white tequila
1/2 oz triple sec
2 tsp lemon juice
splash of coke at the end. just enough to color the liquid.

deeeeeelicious.

the general consensus with online recipe's seems to be equal parts of vodka, rum, gin, tequila, and triple sec with variances in the sours/lemon and coke

i'll probably make it a frozen version since those go over well after coming off the beach

Hey jab, did the name originate from Long Island, NY? Shit, I've never thought of that.

If so, I suppose they have a place the specializes in making them. I'm gonna have to go check it out if so cause my hometown buddy is currently living there.

Given that there is so much alcohol and very little of anything else I think you may have difficulty freezing it.

Interesting that everyone else is say equal of everything, I've always made them with more vodka.

Oh yeah, they always get served in a tall glass, if that helps.

i read that some place called the Oak Beach Inn in babylon claims to have first served it. but i guess those sort of things are always debatable.

oh, and by frozen i mean like blended with ice. they have them all over the place here at the bars

People crack me up. Only a true alcoholic would claim such a drink. That shit even puts my dick in the dirt. How do people make these inventions? They taste so damn good but yet, you don't remember how good they taste after the second one.

Kinda like the first man to eat an egg. "Hey, you see that thing come out the chicken's ass" "Yeah man, I'ma fry it up with a side of bacon and eat it!!"

When I go to a bar solo I don't talk: I play pinball

I had maybe 6 of these in an hour while playing Theatre of Magic Pinball~์Nothing Dangerous/All Safe.
And I got cut off. I was playing pinball, it wasn't like I was hoop'n & holler'in. Singing Bark at the Moon

So if your a bartender keep the drinks pouring
