not really, a quid is just slang for a pound
so a quid means 1 pound
20 quid means 20 pounds(y)

you probably made that up so that i look like a fool if ever i go over there.
i used to live in the international dorm (im not sure why) and i once heard this conversation
- can i borrow a nickel?
- what's a nickel?
it made me lol, but i guess its pretty easy to not know the denominations of currency in a foreign country.
in case anyone was wondering, 1 nickle = 5 cents = 5/100 of a dollar
