One thousand minds are better than one...

Let's put our meat tubes together and come up with a system to kill the evil blood sucking Scalpers:

View messages below and links to catch up to speed and put forth more GREAT suggestions like YoungRemy's:
"Message board exclusives would solve the problem...

you must be registered for ___ hours or days before you can purchase a ticket through the site, which has a certain number of tickets alloted for the fans...

along the lines of the itunes sale

Maybe Beastie Revolutionaries (you, me, adrock, mca, and mike D) will come up with a genious plan that will instigate a rebellious controversy and solution for the AUTOBOTS (fans and Bands) and we'll get rid of the DECEPTAGONS (f'in SCALPERS) for EVER.........

THe Boys have POWER... we've seen it and I've heard of it in the past - getting their feet in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with Laurel Collins back in the day of Dukakis... they can channel this and be responsible for MAKING OF A BETTER USER EXPERIENCE AND MUSIC WORLD of future generations to come... MUSIC FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!! Bring that funky beat BACK! The rythum the rebel... don't believe the hype of the people who say we can't do this... we CAN and WILL.... you can't fail if you don't stop trying...

Re: A suggestion and VENT
The band and management are aware of this issue. Where possible, attempts are made (e.g. ticket limits, government issued ID at the door matching the name on the ticket etc.). Hopefully more can be done going forward.

Re: A suggestion and VENT
Yes but what about the fans that don't come to the message board? There's plenty of people out there who want to go to a show that don't have the time to mess around on here.

it would give the power to the people... the admins and the record label could decide the rules and make sure these spammers wouldnt break them...

the community itself would serve as monitors... you must be a contributor to the community before you can buy tickets...

on a good faith system, I think you would be surprised at how well it could work...

Where does he call himself a fan?

Anyway, this is a matter of state law, the forum admins can't do anything about it. Here in Oklahoma you can (or least you could a few years ago) sell them for however much you like as long as you were a certain distance away from the venue. Besides, many venues have deals with sites like Ticketmaster, and the bands just sort of have to go along with it. Sucks, but there's not much anybody can do. And Minton and TPK certainly have no say in the matter.

Re: A suggestion and VENT
Highly doubt that there is NOTHING we can do... Part of the problem is this attitude...

Not trying to get at you at all.. and thanks for the reply...

Just - only see things getting worse for the fans... it's sad...

Pay to get in the door... day of show might be nice... head count at the door... old school stylo...

hmmmm Can it be that is WAS all so simple then... ???

thanks,

Re: A suggestion and VENT
unfortunately there's not much we can do. scalpers have definitely become more sophisticated nowadays compared to even a few years back but really, all we can do is keep them away from this site. the rest is on ticketmaster or whatever is used for selling the tickets in the first place and craigslist, ebay etc used by scalpers to auction out the tickets.

Agreed guys... there has got to be a way.. lets brainstorm, come up with a list of 10 things that could be come... come back here and list them and then take a poll on them... then brainstorm on the top 5 best ideas and so on...

the problem is that ticketmaster and the big companies control the venues in one way or another, so if you dont do business with them you cant play at their venues

I'm not too sure about that... I've been to plenty of shows that have had nothing to do with Ticketmaster.

Even if that is the case, there is a way that Ticketmaster could be somewhat involved, if the systems end result was the purchase-line through ticketmaster.

A system could be devised around Ticketmasters current system... called Scalpme... or 3MTA3 (EATME)... involving Drivers Liscences (because anyone who purchases tickets online, currently, must use a credit card - which you need a valid identification to contain... Or involve Social Security tags... or even tracing systems back to the IP address and numbers of tickets based off of IP's... in combo with DL and SS...and/or passports... photos..etc... just crack it down but make it flow...
