View Full Version : Zack Snyder's Watchmen
I don't know who else is keeping up with this, but they released the official cast just a couple days ago. Check it out!

I have to admit, after reading some interviews I'm a little excited about Snyder's approach!

Meh, I woulda liked Tim Roth as Rorschach. And that Mustach guy from Get Shorty or whatever movie for the comedian. He's supposed to be old. Hell all of them are. But I heard the director did a good job and the Terry and the Pirates stuff will be in the movie as well. (y)
Hurm, never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon!
You don't understand. I'm not locked up here with you, you're locked up with me.

Casting Akerman in the role should really give a strong hint as to where Snyder's intentions lie.
yeah, that is a bit, worrisome.
I hope it turns out alright.

I know zilch about the source material or what the intentions are with this version, but there are some dandy actors in that bunch.
You could do worse than sell out by casting Bill Crudup. Hell, Peter Jackson just cast Ryan Gosling as a near-forty-year old dad.

Read it! Seriously tremendous. Only comic to make it into NY Times best novels of the 20th century. That book is beyond awesome, Alan Moore is a genius writer, but so far all his books that were made into films fell verrry short (League of Extraordinary Gentleman, From Hell, V for Vendetta).
I thought V for Vendetta wasn't bad.
Apparently Zack argued with different studio execs and instead of trying to update it or action-ify it he's sticking as closely as he can to the source material. That's good news. As far as the cast looking young - I think a little makeup might go a long way. We'll see.
Oh, and yeah, AZ check that out. It's pretty fantastic. One of those comics where nerds like me read it, then read it again, then read it again while reading the wikipedia guide to it.

I just put in a request for it.
Behind six other people. :(
Our library system has one copy. But, since it has a copy in the system, you can't request it through interlibrary loan.
I'm kind of with the guy in the link. Cruddup's voice is going to be pretty prominent and the Discover commercials will kill Doc Manhattan if he doesn't alter it. Malin Akerman? Wow... This has to be the easiest comic book movie to fuck up. Even more than Captain America.

Paddy Considine should have been Rorshach..
Still looking forward to this...BUT...they're gonna have to butcher it to fit all that plot in. Plus, in every one of the aborted drafts they changed the "big event" in New York in the end to something else...I wonder if they'll do the same with this.
yeah, there really is a LOT of plot in the book, i don't think they could fit it all into a movie. they'll have to cut things, like they did for V for Vendetta. i dunno man, i dunno

In the Dark Knight forum, from time to time. But the conversations aren't very interesting. Tons of silly speculation and people saying "agreed" a lot. :D

One of my friends is working on the special effects for this movie.
All he said is that Malin Ackerman is really hot in person.

The woman in the picture looks like she's got brown hair.
I dunno. She's okay... but hot? Nah.

I think the character is supposed to have brown hair. She was most recently in the steaming pile of crap that was The Heartbreak Kid. She was the psycho new wife.
Rorschach being badass. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/35666)
Sigh. March 6th NEXT YEAR.
Get your fix to hold you over with the new video journal.

Most people I know who I talk to about this keep raising the same question; how are they going to convince most people it was Heroes who ripped of Watchman's plot and not the other way round.
