Did you intentionally avoid it before or what?
not so much that, it's just never been in a convenient location (if you can believe that)
i decided to go a little out of my way to try it today (i'm studying for exams and boy oh boy do i like coffee suddenly) and hey, what do you know
there probably was a time in my life where i would have avoided it purposely though. all "starwalmarexxonbucks is the devil" or something, i dunno but i've sold out since then
and it's surprisingly not very expensive

It's alright - I'll indulge in a Caramel Machiata from time to time. However that's less coffee and more sugar milk slop.

It's really not espensive compared to any other fancy coffee place, I'd say the prices are pretty standard, but that's just another argument those anti-Starbucks people use, the "I don't want to pay $3 for a cup of coffee" argument.
And yeah, I love their sugary milk slop. To those people who say "you can make coffee so much cheaper at home," I have to say, I can't make frappucinos or caramel macchiatos in my dorm room, can I?
A (possibly) interesting side note, the caramel macchiato is nothing like a real macchiato. I worked some place where we made real ones and I finally just started talking everyone out of it cause they were expecting the startbucks drink, and we just made a shot of espresso + shot of steamed milk.

over here, Starbucks seems to have a fascination with burning its beans. makes their coffee taste kinda odd.

My school's library has a coffee shop, and the coffee is always burned. I knew someone who swore it was better and that Starbucks tasted like shit. I think what it comes down to for people that REALLY hate Starbucks is that it's just as cool to hate them as to like them.
I'm really indifferent to them, as I go less than once a month. But some of their drinks are yummy.

I had starbucks for the first time about 4 weeks ago, and then again about one week ago, and both times I had a cream-blended strawberry frappuccino, and if drinking cream-blended strawberry frappuccinos makes me gay, then consider me bumfucked.
I still haven't had coffee at starbucks, and probably never will.

well I can't say I've been there in the last...well probably, 5 years, since there's really no reason to go to Starbucks where I live. there's hundreds of other cafes with better coffee and far more character. that doesn't stop loads of people going there though, but usually they're wearing dress pants.

starbucks coffee makes me shake and get lightheaded. i think im just a caffeine lightweight.
the only thing that pisses me off about starbucks is the stupid names they use. what ever happened to large/medium/small?

Shit, only Freddie Mercury sucking off David Furnish at one of Elton John's crazy bumlove parties could be perhaps slightly gayer. With added Liberace.

yeah that did annoy me. i felt stupid asking for a "grande". truthfully i wanted a "venti" but there's no way i'm asking for a "venti" coffee
probably better that i didn't, even the grande was a little much

yeah that's just it. i don't even use thier stupid words i just say "a medium coffee please". and then they're like "you mean a grande americano right?"
it's not like they're called starbuckso so why use italian words for sizes.
seriously. i don't even know what "venti" means, i'm not about to go around using it describe my coffee order. i assume it's italian for "pretentious" or something

cafe americano is coffee with a shot of espresso yes?
which would basically make it two cups of coffee condensed.
maybe that's your problem, planetary?

well you said it makes you jittery, but if you're getting a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso in it, its got way more caffine than a regular cup of coffee would

Yeah -- the venti thing confused me and then someone pointed out (duh) that it means "twenty."
It's not a 20-oz. coffee, though, so I kinda don't get it.
But anyway.
Starbucks -- anything but the house blend, I INSIST -- is pretty darned good.
The spinach croissants are insane. They're very addictive.
Not so nuts about all the sugary coffee drinks, but at least I get the appeal.
Plus the places are usually clean and the employees are decent or better.
As far as chain stores goes, they're doing a darn good job. (y)

Reminds me of a Bill Hicks routine -
'The one thing about Tennesee is the coffee. I asked for a coffee, and the guy says "you want the 32oz or the large?? *snort*" Well shit, how big's that large??'
"You best bring your truck round back, I'ma start that pump!"
Eh. It sounded funnier when Bill said it.

My town only has six Starbuckses!
actually i retract what i said about the coffee being good; dred was right, they burned it. i got a black coffee (house blend i presume, i dunno, i just said "coffee" and they gave me something), and it seemed good at first, but that thing was totally burnt

That sounds like the house blend, Bob. Seriously. House blend is closer to gas station coffee. If you ever go back, ask "what's brewing today?" and basically take anything but the house blend, and you're good. (y)
