My vote definitely goes to John Frusciante, stopping in about 1999-2000 before he became a complete washout.
From his time as a kid going to Peppers shows, bad guitar habits, to joining the Peppers and creating some masterful guitar-pieces, the obvious dark period (check out Johnny Depp's film 'Stuff' on youtube for a smattering, the early days and not complete darkness. Messed up, regardless) and then onto the return to society.
I could see Larry Clark having a crack at it. Probably have to be written by John himself, and I doubt he'd be keen.
Only two problems. He's not dead yet, and he probably wouldn't want it to be revisited. Possible third problem; Anthony Keidis would be in it. lol

I was going to say Jean-Dominique Bauby, the author of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, but it appears that there already has been a film about him

Christopher Nolan was writing a screenplay about Howard Hughes but then scrapped it when Scorsese got his out first. Nolan called it "the best script I've ever written which I guess is easy to say when it's not gonna get made but I'd still love to have seen that.

I read about that. I kinda wish Scorsese (or DiCaprio, since I think he produced it with Mann) would've just scrapped their own and gone with Nolan's.

Obviously, I'm not much of a film buff. Are there many films about Alfred Hitchcock?

For what it's worth, Pryor made a semi-autobraphical movie himself. Jo Jo Dancer. I don't know if it's any good, but it's basically him telling his story, from what I understand.

Brad Delp, the lead singer of Boston. Tragic suicide man. I can't believe there weren't any threads made about him and he just recently took his own life.
The whole band in fact has quite a story to tell between the CBS lawsuit and such.
Were there any movies made about Johnny Cash?
I believe Chevy Chase is due for a movie, he's got a book out and I'm really interested in buying it. Being such a funny guy, the drummer for the band "The Leather Canary", the huge backstage brawl he had with Bill Murray and the hardcore physical and emotional abuse he suffered while living with his parents.

Walk the Line with Joaquin Phoenix for Johnny Cash.
I can't believe you would buy a book about Chevy Chase. He is terrible. Vacation, Fletch, Caddyshack, and his brief appearances in Dirty Work are the only things he ever did that were funny. I didn't really like him on SNL. And his Late Night show was god awful.
The Appetite for Destruction thread made me think of how cool a movie about them would be. Especially the time period of them making that album and touring for it. Good shit.
