Just spoke with Pooty and he said it was a great show...but I guess most folks in attendance were not dressed to impress. There was a little room to dance, too.
The venue didn't allow cameras either.

sick, sick, sick!
the setlist included smoother versions of The Maestro, Sure Shot and So What'cha Want
Oh man, what an amazing set. So much IC, CYH, a little bit of the Mix-UP. Even some hardcore tracks. I went in expecting mostly just some stuff from TMU, and some older instrumentals, but I was pretty much blown away. Goddamn.

WTF are you people talking about?
This show was cancelled at the last minute.
We were told by a representative of the band that:
"there was apparently not enough fan interest in the Beastie Boys playing instrumentals to support this show."
It was definitely a depressing turn of events, but I did manage to win $300 playing craps, so it was all good.

All right, someone's lying here. I'm gonna have to believe my pal Suavee-Bolo. I was supposed to see Ice Cube (I know "haha funny") in AC last December, and it got cancelled at the last minute. I don't think Philly sold out till right before the show so a smaller, more isolated city like AC would probably have an even harder time drawing fans - especially all-instrumental.

It never happened.
Sorry folks.

Yeah - It happened. In the words of Ar-Rock "That's a lotta Borgatta!"
Great set list, IMO, but I was hoping to hear Honky Rink. That was about the only song I'd hoped for but didn't get (with the exceptions of Funky Boss and anything from Aglio - where the fuck has that stuff been during these Gala Events).
From what I remember..the setlist had (in no right order):
B For My Name / Live At PJs / Remote Control / Electric Worm / The Rat Cage / Jimmy James / The Maestro / Sure Shot / Sabrosa / Son Of Neckbone / POW / Root Down and Get It / Tough Guy / Time For Livin / Egg Raid On Mojo / Gratitude / Off The Grid / Futterman's Rule / Song For The Man / Lighten Up / Mark On The Bus / Do it / Transitions / [Mix-Up Song I can't recall]
Encore: Heart Attach Man / So What'cha Want / Sabotage

OK - Let's not quote me on that one just yet. I haven't memorized all the Mix-Up tracks just yet. So I very well could be wrong. But I recall on the plane yesterday listening to TMU and The Rat Cage in particular and thinking...well I guess that little noise does sound like a Rat nibblin and squeakin'...And I thought I heard that nibblin' / squeakin' sound again last night.
Nonetheless - Let's wait for someone to verify that particular track, then. The other TMU tracks were name-checked or I knew them - so we'll see.

Holy Smokes Baby! This was a really good show. I have to begin by saying that the crowd was not the greatest, not many were dressed up, but the guys still put on an excellent show. All audience members were on their best behavior, with the exception of a little weed usage. I don't think smoking pot is bad behavior though.
There was no pushing and shoving so it gave people enough room to dance freely. It was so relaxed, an 11 year old and his father had no problems with staying on the rail. This little guy was dressed to impress.
They started out with Live at Pj's and ended it with Sabotage. I'm waiting for Darren's father, the father of the 11 year old, to get ahold of me so I can get all the songs that were played from him. He is the only one in our area that recieved a setlist.
The song that stood out for me at this Gala Event was Jimmy James for personal reasons, that and Sabrosa brought the house down in my opinion.
It was really nice meeting up with Cey, Rob, May, Raz, Phil, and the many others the night of the Gala event. I had the pleasure of meeting up with many more members of the BBMB Weds in Philly, but that is another thread. I will leave my review of that night later on.

I have to admit I was a bit bummed with the Borgata show. The sound quality blew. I don't know if was the Beastie's sound guy or if it's the room, which was just an auditorium, but the quality was horrible. I can't believe a band that once toured with a quadraphonic sound system can honestly say that show sounded remotely good. I expected better...especially for $89 + a ticket. All the instruments, vocals and samples just downed each other out and waaay too tinny.
I did like the effort the guys made to play the earlier sounds with instruments but I was left feeling they butchered them a bit. The energy was not there. Adrock did try to bring it up a bit but it was a hopeless cause.
And what was sound special about this 'Gala' event? From the pics of other shows it looked the same. I got the feeling they may have been bummed out by the poor turn out. Adrock even shouted at the audience "it looks dead in here'. MCA completely looked like he did not want to be there also.
I have been reading this message board and have been a beastie boys.com member since it inception, so I know how people can't take criticism of the band but you have to take the good with the bad. I have been a fan since She's On it and seen countless shows, and acquired a pretty impressive collection of rare B-Boy vinyl and memorabilia since then. I've meet then on occasion and have deep respect for what they have done for modern music and popular culture. ..might I say, I love the new album. It's great.
But to put on a show at the price they asked and bang out of there in an hour and a half seems like they just wanted the dough and get out.
Sorry guys that's my opinion, hopefully it will change but ........
