I goddamn love it.

everything about it.

but Ive never tried cooking it on my own, Im going to this weekend

I think Ill try and whip up something chicken shawarma-like flavour wise, but on the bbq with just chicken breasts
and Im not going to put it in a pita

Ill make some hummous and tzaziki and grill some flat bread

and some tabouleh salad and maybe add some more chickpeas

I just dont know they make that hot sauce they always serve...

oh oh, and Ive had this dish where they cook cauliflower in lots of salt and lemon juice and they really broil the shit out of it so its almost browned
ughhhhhhh its so good, so maybe ill try and make something along those lines too

I hope it all comes out ok.

Ive just never cooked middle eastern food on my own so its going to freak me out putting allspice or cinnamon on meat eeeeeee...

Oddly enough, I get my hummus from a guy from Israel nowadays, no real Lebanese in my hood... He also makes a nice puff pastry bread filled with hummus, called Mahouba or something. (y)

it's been ridiculously trendy here for at least five years, small dishes called "mehze" or something like that

what i've had is pretty good, recipies seem to require all sorts of ingredients so i'll stick with developing my indian cuisine skills as for now

ok cardamom is a ridiculously expensive spice, but good god it makes chicken taste good

I marinated my cublets of chicken in yoghurt, lemon, cardamom, allspice, paprika, tumeric, salt, pepper, garlic and a little cayenne

then I skewered it and cooked it on the grill
topped it with a sauce made with tahini, yoghurt, lemon, salt and pepper

toasted up some flat bread to go with the hummus and put out some feta, oilves, and pickled beets as little snacky snacks too

the tabouli salad was aces
it had bulgar wheat, fresh parsley and mint (from my boysfriend's parent's garden), tiny diced red and yellow tomatoes, red onion, cucumber and then sauced with lemon/oil/salt/pepper

and I topped the whole meal off with grilled peaches topped with some fresh whipped cream

I even amazed my self at the whole meal's tastiness

I wish you were my friend.

We have a Lebanese place that has the world's best tabouli. Another part of the charm is that the owner is surly. If a neighborhood place survives with a surly owner, you know the food is good.

I love it....I mean it's amazing....I find it "clean" eating you know, tastes good, good for you and you feel great after eating it....the pastry/desert items with honey and almond, almost baclava, laden treats are too much sweet for me.....but everything else is amazing....although I must say out of the 3 locations around my hood they all have someting to be desired in terms of cleanliness or general hygeine....but the results are amazing.....I also had great Lebanese this summer in Murcia but of course the locals insist it's "mediteranean" not Lebanese, not Algerian and sure as hell not Arabic....so close to Greek and Turkish diet, even Israeli diet.....ohhhh now I must have some....like NOW.......(y)
