LISTEN! i love the Beasties and what they have done for music, hip hop, New York and life in general. So it hurts me to see that their newest album cover for 'The Mix-Up' is a subpar *BITE* of a New York artist/director/designer's (Asif Mian) own work for BECK he did in November 2005!!!

see for yourself:

oh yeah, he also did this:

I dont think its too big a deal. There's plenty of stuff out there in a similar style to that. Maybe "unoriginal" but definitely not a total *bite*.

I like both cover arts. The geezer should take it as a compliment anyway. Besides,it's not the same thing, but the In Sounds intentionally ripped off another old instrumental cover or two... I say they're keeping it all in line.

Oh, and a very worthwhile account/username you've set up there. I'm pretty sure 'The information' was referred to many a time by plenty of people when the Mix Up cover art was realeased. Thanks for just letting us know anyway though.

i think they were simply inspired by that artistic style. :)

like when someone mentioned them ripping off the new york observer logo. it's an homage to the original, that's all. :D

letting_u_know, go find a copy of Hello Nasty and turn to the artwork on the back of the album... maybe your boy is biting the Beastie style all along...

its okay to be inspired by other peoples art and pay homage...
