He probably won't see this at all but it's worth a shot. My dog Macy (chocolate lab, 7 years old) had been suffering from lymphoma the past few months and upon my return from Philly, she had been staying with my ex-wife and her health had gotten worse since Tuesday. She was having trouble breathing today since both lymph nodes are swollen..we were faced with a tough decision and today we did what was best for her. May she rest in peace. I know the Beastie Boys love dogs so just wanted to share this. Don't want to be cheesy but I wish I could get a song dedicated to her tomorrow at Virgin Fest tomorrow but that is far fetched..I guess Gratitude would be apppopriate to thank her for the memories.
THANKS
Macy (January 3, 2000 - August 3, 2007)

She would always turn her head when she heard the dog in "Sure Shot", "Oh Word?", and the violin in "Eugene's Lament" would drive her. I am going to miss that.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. My family and I went through the EXACT same thing w/ our dog "Ace" just over a year ago.
It was nice meeting you and having a few drinks after the show. Have fun at V-fest.

"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given." ~ unknown
Sorry to hear about your dog. Always sucks to lose a friend. Savor the memories.

Yes, this did happen...I was standing next to razmatazern and she heard it too. It was such a strange moment. I felt myself getting teary eyed during The Police when I was reflecting back on Macy's short 7 years I had with her.

Unfuckingbelievable. I swear, I'm getting teary eyed here. What did he say exactly? Just like, "This is for Macy?"
The bands connection to the fans is growing stronger and is really becoming something special. Were you guys up front?

I was thinking they were going to start with "Tough Guy" again so I had my camera in my pocket.....I heard MCA's fuzz bass tuning up and was like oh cool, they are going to start with Gratitude, then Adam H gets on the mic and says "We're the Beastie Boys from New York City, this song is dedicated to Macy".....I was caught offguard, my sister said she almost cried during their set since they did that for me. I told her they do have a fan connection most bands don't have. I hope a video of this surfaces so I can have proof of this. I also wonder if someone has a picture of the setlist and if the dedication was scrawled in there. Man, I miss that dog.

Man you don't need proof, the B-Boys and B-Girls all believe you and feel for you as did the the Beasties themselves.
For everyone going to the Brooklyn show, a shout out from us to Macy during Gratitude is in order. Y'all with me? Just pump your fist in the air and give Macy a holla!

That is brilliant that the Beastie Boys care about their fans, not alot of bands do something like this.
My condolences for the loss of your dog, it is never easy to lose a pet.

Reading the threads about Macy brought tears to my eyes. It sounds like you've had a rough time lately and losing Macy is so sad. I hope Adrock's dedication brought you a little comfort and, while it may sound corny, the fact that he did that makes me feel really good about the band.

The most important part of being a pet owner is making the difficult decision to end your pet's pain. I'm sorry you had to lose her so soon.
Yeah, I can believe they honored your request. They're a special band that way.

thanks again for the condolences. i haven't been able to sleep much since the reminders are here: box of milkbones, dog bowl, a toy on the floor, heartworm pills, the dogtag with her name and address...i just had that made for her a month ago in case she got loose at our new apartment. i heard there was a site that preserves dog collars? anyone have the link?
Thanks again to Adam H and everyones kind words and support.

it's amazing how much you get used to having your pet around....i ordered pizza tonight...i don't eat the crust so i was saving it on my plate to give to...then it hit me like a bitter slice of reality...:(....i had no one to give it to so i just had to throw it away.
(understand that some will argue against giving your dog table scraps)

Hey there, I'm not sure about the collar preservation, but here's a resource that might be of use -- the ASPCA offers free pet loss counseling (http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pets_petloss). I know, it may sound cheesey! But I called a few years back when my cat was killed in an accident & they told me some things that really helped.
It also helped me to place all of her things nicely in box and store it out of sight until I was ready to deal with it. It sucks, I know...hang in there.

Sorry to hear about Macy - it's gonna be rough for awhile but keep your head up! Someone sent this to me when I lost my dog - "Your life was and will continue to be brighter because of the time that you shared with your pet. This is the best testament to the value of your pet's existence."
I saw your thank you text message on Saturday - I know you said you didn't see it, but it did display!

That is a great quote that someone sent you. I do feel richer in life. It's taking some time to get used too. I've slept a lot lately and that's not a good thing. Today is my day with my daughter so I'm looking forward to that. I get her this weekend too...lately when I carry her down the steps to my apartment she always says "hay cee", since she cannot pronounce Macy. At 19 months, she is not going to understand. We named her webkinz stuffed animal chocolate lab after Macy a few weeks ago. Like I said, I put the real Macy's collar on the stuffed animal, it's too big though. She chased Macy around the house and would attempt to use her as a pillow, they got along really well.
I'm glad you saw the text message, I wasn't sure how long it would be till it get on there..I wasn't sure if they would post something serious like that, since I had been reading a bunch of gibberish across that screen...so later I sent a text saying "VA Beach up in your area", to see if that would make it...never knew. thanks again.

yes they do read them, Yauch used to post on here from time to time. They mentioned the boards on Beastie Boys Radio a few years back when they said the music was not from an iPod but straight up vinyl in most cases.
Nicodemus....is droppin' that song title your way of saying enough already and this topic is getting stale?? I understand.
