You know how the flavor doesn't necessarily taste at all like the real thing, but the moment you taste it you know what fake flavor it's supposed to be?
I think mine would be sour apple, maybe strawberry.
Think of:
Kool Aid
Laffy Taffy
DumDums

Cherry for most things. Chocolate for Tootsie pops.
Though I loooove lemon skittles and starburst. Whatever, I just went with cherry and chocolate.

ditto
We just got one of those huuuuuge Jelly Belly jars from COSTCO. For the most part I'm enjoying the variety. There are some strange flavors though...

I really can't stand sweets but, I suppose I'll have to go with root beer.
I'm just waiting for the day that they come out with beef jerky flavor lollypops and bubblegum.

I said banana because I was thinking of the liquor (in cooking) and my childhood longing for banana shakes from Dairy Queen. I highly doubt that all the flavor was coming from real bananas. I don't know what happened to the fake butterscotch flavor at Dairy Queen. I had a dipped cone tonight and it was horrible.
Black Licorice is my favorite real candy flavor.

I almost always go for fake vanilla, but I had to vote that as an "other." Fake vanilla doesn't equal fake root beer does not equal fake butterscotch (I assume -- never had it) does not etc. They're all different diseases. And though some of the best diet soda is fake root beer, I don't buy root beer flavored protein powder, etc.. and that's where I 99.99999% of my fake flavor from.
Fake vanilla, also, because you can drink it all the time you need to without really getting sick of it, because the flavor isn't spending all its time punching you in the mouth. If I were drinking fake (chocolate, strawberry, kiwi, salmon, lichen, etc.) daily for months, I'd want to puke every time I went to blend it.
Fake vanilla. If you can't have the real thing, that's not a bad substitute. Fake berry and chocolate drinks etc. don't even taste remotely like the real thing; they taste like some steroidal kindergarten memory of what (XYZ) must've tasted like, at that's more rooted in popsicles and gums than genuine fruit or good chocolate.
I have pretty strong feelings about this.

Either I'm confused by you or you're confused by me. Fake vanilla tastes like vanilla. It's not as good, but it tastes pretty much like the real flavor. So do butterscotch and root beer. I know they may be made artificially but the flavor is usually pretty spot on, right? That was my point, not that they taste like each other, but that their individual fake counterparts taste real.

I guess I'm confused. I thought it was which was our favorite artificial flavor.
I've had some fake root beer flavor that was just nasty (usually hard candy) and some that tasted good (diet soda). And fake vanilla is an approximation that's not offensive, but you're not going to confuse it with real vanilla. (A lot of people cook with imitation vanilla to start with, thinking that's "real" vanilla [it's sure cheaper unless you buy in bulk], but a comparison shows how far off imitation vanilla is.)
Yeah, so, uh... I missed your point, I guess. I couldn't go with "fake root beer/vanilla/butterscotch" because I (almost never ever/I almost always/I never never never) eat those. Fake vanilla needs its own spot.
I'm a rebel, Dottie. A loner.

Oh yeah. I'm not sure if this thread is supposed to be about candies cause I don't eat candy at all.
I think my most favorite artificial flavor is shrimp. I love shrimp flavored crackers.

Actually, those fake pizza-flavored Pringles were kind of tasty, briefly. Another one of those things which probably had diminishing returns.

And Chicken on a Biscuit crakkas are the bomb too.
Yeah, artificial pizza things are always nice.

Ohhh... okay. Chicken on a biscuit crackers. You might've won, there.
Especially if you have a big old tub of some fake-flavored spread to dip 'em into.
But, yeah -- the crackers that are a little moist, like they really bothered to get the fake butter texture into the cracker just right.
Yeah, you might've won.

This kind of sucks, because I haven't had any junkish food in about 10 weeks, now.
I think I resign from this thread.
