fuck you, I've had a hard week/month and needed some fluff in my life :(
The so called Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy by Gregg Araki:
Totally Fucked Up [ok]
The Doom Generation [really good and cameos]
Nowhere [weird and even more cameos]
I also watched Choke. It was fun.
Gigantic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e3oz5t4CqE)
John Goodman needs to do less voice-overs and more movies <3
I liked the characters (Especially John Goodman) or at least how well they were played but that movie was a let down.
Sunshine Cleaning. I think Alan Arkin is in my top 5 favorite actors. The movie was alright...nothing special.

i was extremely disappointed by Zombieland. I pretty much thought it was shit.
The cameo however is excellent, and the chick is super hot, but the rest of it was a complete waste of a good opportunity. It tried so hard to be cool. Films should try to be cool, they are either cool or they are not. This is not. A little bit of subtlety would have gone far.

it's a very no-frills stereotypical action movie but assuming that that's what it was trying to be, it did its job very well. i mean, it's no die hard, but what is? i'd put it up there with the bourne trilogy. maybe even a little better because the good guy had a more sympathetic motive (really about as sympathetic as motives come, now that i think about it)

i saw the original ending on movieweb, which has since been removed, and i thought it was pretty lame. there's a description of it here (http://www.horrorsquad.com/2009/10/11/so-what-was-paranormal-activitys-original-ending/), as well as the other ending.

I understand, but if even Meryl Streep can have shit pies like Lemony Snickets, She-Devil and A.I. on her resume without it taking away from her other work, I think we should be able to forgive Cate for this relatively minor misstep.
minor misstep my arse. anyone involved in that grave digging excerise has gone down in my estimation, at least the streep films you mentioned were original exercises. crystal skull is the worst film of ALL TIME.

hmmmm..i don't get this point at all.
the film consciously makes no reference to the towers not being there any more. I watched it (loved it, favourite film of last year) and whilst yes, it of course invokes 9/11 in your mind, i never once thought this story was a trivial footnote.
the story is so good, and so well portrayed, that it really in the end is completely separate to what eventually happened the towers.

It didn't work for me...I felt no sense of tension or danger until the very moment he steps onto the wire...I believe that during the editing of this movie, specific images of the towers and building site were used, that parallel what has become familiar to the mind's eye in the aftermath...this is readily apparent to me and all though there is no reference to the ultimate fate of the building's,outwardly, there was specific purpose behind some of the chosen imagery...without a doubt...I will give the act itself props for being a pretty astounding and somewhat beautiful piece of guerilla art...other than that all it did for me was make me realize I have not seen any of the other doc's it won out over to take the Oscar....

it was pretty scary in parts, cos i never knew anything about the anita bryant stuff and its sad that shit even saw the light of day and its really frightening it was only 30 years ago. i am still really struggling with why dan white did that, i mean i get it , maybe the movie didnt fully go into his side of stuff i dont know but it was a sad ending
I dont criticize Penn for choosing biggies, he's good at them and if he did a few throwaway's , the biggies wouldnt have as much impact, he obviously throws himself right into the roles and you cant do that if your making 3 movies a year

What's funny about Val Kilmer, in the movie, he was overweight and had long hair, but if you look at the cover here (http://www.traileraddict.com/content/sony-pictures/hardwired.jpg), they show a younger Val. I thought that was amusing.

sort of, i had low expectations but the wife wanted to watch it, i think she may have a crush on james corden. horne and corden are getting a bit stale but the ingredients were all there for a good film - two good comedy actors, paul mcgann, vampires, and some fine looking women but there were like two jokes that were funny, disappointing even with low expectations.

i dunno thats a bit harsh, he's been around for years and is a good actor but he's not a comedian. he's good in gavin and stacey, everyone is in that but thats cos its written so well and he did co write it but he's become a caricature of himself doing the robot, singing songs and shouting all the time. he has been around for a long time in obscurity so you cant knock him for making the most of his time in the limelight but yes the joke is wearing thin a bit now.

I liked it. I like watching fantasy films @ christmas time especially.
Up in the Air:
mixed feelings. the ending sucked but perhaps that was the point.
Bronson:
sweet. jesus. quite the trip of a movie.

Home Fries, because a handful of people swear my boyfriend looks like Jake Busey and he doesn't.
1. Jake Busey has HUGE teeth. My bf does not.
2. Jake Busey's eyes squint a lot. My bf's do not.
3. Jake Busey is super blond and kind of red. My bf is strawberry blond and he may be white, but he's not red.
Also, when did Luke Wilson stop being hot? That's sad. He was hot at the time this movie was made, like woah.

“The Boondock Saints”…that was a fun rip…I was surprised I’d never heard/seen it until I heard about the sequel…the original was doomed when the release date coincided with the Columbine shootings…not the best time to ultra stylize mad shooters…
B
“The Hangover”…damn if that wasn’t pretty decently funny and clever…nice surprise…

i have watched "dumbo" about 6 times this weekend. never watched it when i was a kid but thought i would let me daughter watch it. i thought it might be a bit much but she was glued to the screen, i thought the pink elephants bit might be too much but she loved it. she's watched all the pixar stuff, shrek and ice age and all that but nothing has kept her concentration as much as dumbo, we have tried a few older cartoons and kids films with her recently and she is transfixed, its either ther colours, the simple stories or walt had subliminals in there.

^^ Pixar kicks ass! Love it.
Anyway, I've been at Kustendorf (http://www.kustendorf-filmandmusicfestival.org/2010/index.php?p=84) for past five days, saw so many really good stuff: Farewell by Christian Carion, Soul Kitchen by Fatih Akin,
Tsar by Pavel Lungin, About Elly by Asghar Farhadi, The Time That Remains by Elia Suleiman ...
as well as many amazing low budget movies within competition programme.
.. I attended several directors/writers/actors workshops. Marjane Satrapi author of Persepolis, completely thrilled me,
of course Johnny Depp's workshop was a special treat .. great man no doubt, so cool and charismatic but down to earth.
Didn't get a chance to talk to him ''in 4 eyes'' but my friend gave him a blow (http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/4893/blowjobsmall.jpg). That has to count, right? :D
To sum it up. Beautiful nature in hills, small woody houses - traditional interior design - see here (http://www.mecavnik.info/wsw/index.php?p=197) , intimately, familiar atmosphere,
true artists everywhere you turn ... perfect.
Almost certain I'm gonna be there next year too.
Oh yea'! Right before I went to this fairytale, I saw Twilight: The New Moon. Good lord what a crap!
still love Kristen tho

It had some fun characters and dialogue, but it was choppy and never really got in a good rhythm. I'm still waiting for Judge to make something on par with Office Space.

finally watched transformers 2.
disappointing.
effects were ok
story was weak
too many daft robots
too many running shots
crap acting apart from turturro being good
i wont be watching the third one unless its called Transformers 3: Megan Fox gets naked and talks dirty for two hours.
