”Half Life” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428620/)...a really nice film, pre/imminent end of the world set, many sub-story’s...flawless integration of animated sequences with filmed ones...quite unique...(y)...whoa. Guess if a Half-Life film ever came to be, they may have to use a subtitle.

INSIDIOUS (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1591095/) - most fun I've had at a move in awhile, I was laughing my ass off for the whole last half.
Id compare it to "drag me to hell" (not sure if that was the movie's intention, but oh well, I had a blast)

The Tillman Story (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568334/) - watch it, ya'll.

wow, one thing i never thought would travel was Shameless but that looks ok. It seems very familiar story wise to first series of uk but that was best one. In uk, most of the good characters have left now and its become a bit of cariacature of itself but first coupla series i really liked.

Was Your Highness funny??I actually wasn't s sure about it from what people and reviews were talking about, was with my bro and a friend (of his) and I wanted to see The Lincoln Lawyer since it was also the closest time but majority vote won (of course I could have just watched the other film by myself but I wasn't in the mood of watching a flick alone).

Yeah, it was a funny film. Probably not as comedic as Pineapple Express but I ended up enjoying it. Though I'd be cautious if you have high standards of spoof satire even if this doesn't come close to being as horrendous as the Genre Movie flicks.

SO good, considering the comic book is one of the best ever and adaptations quite often turn out to be shit, it's just one of the best movies. Only complaint is Stephen Rea using the American way of saying lever at the end. It's a totally british film, even though Natalie Portman in it, written by a british bloke. Why say lever and not leever. Oh, and hugo weaving's not British either is he....so why did he voice V? It's not like we ever see his face. Gah. Still in my top 3 ever.

they cut one of my favorite parts from the comic book. where he kills the priest, and he's talking about the miracle of transubstantiation, where you eat the wafer and it miraculously turns into the body of christ or whatever after you swallow it. so he feeds him a poison wafer and says "let's see if it stays poison"

i mean it was a long comic book, i get it, they had to cut a lot, but still, that was such a badass thing to do

Super 8. Really enjoyed it. Thoroughly entertaining, worth seeing.

The best part, however, was the end, when I walked over to the kid that had been sitting next to us and fucking with his ipod every few minutes (meaning a very distracting light) and put my finger in his face and said DON'T DO THAT DURING A MOVIE. The look on his face of sheer terror was so gratifying (y)

V for Vendetta, about 3 times in the last couple of weeks.
That's kind of funny, I watched the film directly after reading the book (which is one of my favourites ever) and I hated it. I ended up turning it off about 15 minutes in, which I never usually do with films. I just felt it had none of the gritty, 1984/Nazi/Thatcher-era Britishness of the novel. It all just felt too glossy and studio-based for me.

Just read this after mentioning it in my post. What are the chances?

Still yet to see a good adaptation of this. I saw a stage version which basically just focussed on the torture scene, it was pretty contrived.

Transformers Dark of the Moon. I really liked it. It was way better than the other 2 and there wasn't as much shit going on during the battles so it was a lot easier on the eyes and to follow. I watched it in 3D, it was good for about 40% of the movie, other than that, it was meh.

It had some decent plot twists, and a good plot as well.

I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

07-08-2011, 07:28 PM
yeah saw DOTM as well and since soaking it in found it to be on par with the second one.

Yes there were some great action scenes, better animation, and a little bit more robot dialogue - there were still huge plot holes, poor dialogue (sam was the most annoying in this one) and a hurried ending again.

What happened in D.C.?

All these robots show and then...we're in Chicago.

If the Decpticon ships were shooting down all the Ospreys, why not launch more cruise missiles in to take care of them?

Megatron and Sentinal did not get money shot transformations and Shockwave was more fodder than General Grievious in Star Wars

4.3 out of 10 - the .3 is for all the *Kablarsh!* and *Blabooom!!!*

It's our anniversary and we had a few margaritas and sneaked a few drinks in and watched it.

We just saw it as it was and kept with it and was happy with it that way.

Now that you mention Megatron, how did he become a beat up semi truck or whatever he was? I don't remember part 2 much and I wasn't really happy with part 2 to even bother remembering it.

Other than that, I'm not much of a movie critique but I wasn't upset after seeing it. We both enjoyed it and that is what counts.

Having transformers as my staple toy as a kid, I'm a bit particular about certain things, but this is what we get for now.

loved the bumblebee transforming around sam while dodging the debris in the air

there was some cool shit being a Bay film, it's just the fact that he can be messy because he's Bay. I wish I could be the "jock" director and blow shit up and not worry about plotholes, dialogue, continuity etc...

Never Let Me Go....jeesus....i don't know if this was really released in the U.S or anywhere else, it's quite a small Brit film although it does have Keira Knightley in it so that may be not the case. Whatever, it's disturbing. No spoilers, it's not at all hidden what it's about which is kids growing up that have been cloned to act as organ donors when they grow up. They get to adulthood, start to donate then die as their bodies can't take any more, whether after one or four donations. Thing that bothered me was the acceptance...you just wouldn't be so accepting that this was your lot would you. I mean, they're allowed their freedom, just have to clock in with a tag system. That part of it annoyed me, that and Keira Knightley...she annoys the shit out of me.

I was just wondering what part of the Bowie clan Sam Rockwell was. But i remembered reading just the other day that it was made by "Zowie" . Who now is called Alan or something equally as mundane as possible. LOve the film, love Sam Rockwell. I even bought the dvd. Trying to remember what film he was making next...is he doing the Bladerunner thing?? I'm gonna gooogle

Ok, so he's Duncan. And i forgot he did Source Code which i just saw on the plane, and which was good. Also saw Thor and Arthur which were also good. Didn't think i'd like Arthur but giggled like a fool through most of it.

Four Lions.

Filmed in Sheffield, was on TV last night, first time I've seen it. Very funny.

"Your Highness"...gawd...so very bad...the more I see of Danny McBride the less I like him…he’s not funny…no appeal, not in movies and he interviews like a dead fish...

i watched The Wave (Die Welle) last night. it's about a high school teacher taking a class on Autocracy the students think knowing what they know
germany couldn't fall into a fascist state again, so they do an experiment and things get out of control really quickly.

it was pretty good but i felt there was something lacking like they didn't push the boundaries and some parts were pretty predictable

”Mesrine: Public Enemy #1” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411272/)...a better than average French film based on a real gangster...I watched it and then realized it was part 2 of a 2 movie deal...damn...anyways good enough to pick up the first one,see how it is and also read his book...warning: does feature a really brutal beating scene...

B

”Tracker” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1414378/)...not a great movie by any means but the scenery/setting of New Zealand is so stunning, throughout the movie that I stuck with it...wow...I gotta get me there some day...

C+

”Stranded: I've Come from a Plane That Crashed on the Mountains” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1157720/)...Ive always been fascinated with the story, read the book, watched the Ethan Hawke movie,etc,etc...but this definitively answers all the questions I remained curious about...a pretty profound movie about the human spirit, survival and perseverance...simultaneously moving and mind blowing...

"X-Men : First Class"...Would have been really good if only they’d of cut/edited out the cutsy kids crap…just cutting this one scene could have made a huge difference…besides that it builds a really good tempo and has a fantastic finale…I think the battle sequence between Banshee,Havok and Angel is the best “flight” scene of it’s kind, ever…

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

I'm sure it was actually really good, but I had a crappy seat at the front of the cinema, I was pretty tired and I'm rubbish with names so I didn't really follow as well as I should have. Didn't know 'whodunnit' until it was pretty much spelled out for me. I'm pretty dumb with these kind of films.

We was gonna see that be we went to see Troll Hunter instead. Brilliant film, 4/5.

It's a reading type film though unless you understand Norwegian.

“The Fighter”…sometimes it’s nice to let a movie age awhile before you take it in…after the release hype, critical acclaim and awards season are done…I like to ignore certain films, age them like a wine and then watch…this was a pretty solid movie, could have been trimmed down on running time…it’s got me watching ”High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djsttW52Iuo)...which features scenes that were recreated almost exactly in the movie...defucknpressing...I’m at work so I’m calling it “research”...

13 Assassins

Bad ass. A complete rip off of Seven Samurai, but still badass

Shaolin

Very different from the original Shaolin Temple, but excellent. Also badass.

”Conan O’Brien: Can’t Stop” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1864288/) I had bigger expectations than this movie could fulfil...has its moments for sure but was a bit of a let down...the best bits come from the rehearsals for the show itself when he’s “berating” staff...he’s still the funniest man in late night eva...

C+

”13 Assassins” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1436045/)someone should have told Takashi Miike he only needed 7 Samurai to get it done...the similarity’s between this and Kurosawa’s epic are present throughout..entertaining but really just made me want to re-watch Akira’s movie, once again, because it’s sooooo much cooler...
