the man who bought mustique http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Man_Who_Bought_Mustique/60033864?locale=en-US i cant say why but i really enjoyed this. i recommended 7.5/10

my father the genius https://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/My_Father_the_Genius/70061703?locale=en-US technically, its not well made. its kind of self indulgent. it won awards at sundance. i don't think it was liked for the reasons the daughter made it. i even almost turned it off a few times. but there is a worthwhile message to be gathered. 7/10 (10/10 for some people who might need to watch it?)

Very slick well made sci-fi, Med pod scene was cool, made me watch the Alien movies again as well as the Data-centered episodes of Star Trek the TNG.

As for Django, its my favorite movie of the year and also my 2nd favorite Tarrentino movie (pulp fiction cannot be beat.) I've seen it twice.

Looper - Entertainment! Although I think I could have done a better job at making JGL's skin-tone look a bit more realistic, I know he had a lot of prosthetics on underneath it all but C'MON.

Lawless - Good flick, I would have been more impressed with it but I've been watching Boardwalk Empire since season 1 so I've grown immune to extreme 1920's style violence.

Hope Springs - I liked it, but do not watch this one with your baby boomer Mom especially if Tommy Lee Jones in glasses looks like your Dad's long lost twin because there is a lot frank discussions regarding the sex! Yikes!

Total Recall (2012)--Piece of shit

Dredd---Had a very John Carpenter feel to it. Felt like Escape from New York meets Assault on Precinct on 13. (the original) I loved it.

Minority Report.

Good story, shit director. Is it supposed to be a serious look at future moral quandaries, or are you actually showing me a jet pack accidentally cooking hamburgers?

Well you’ve never been to a scientology 4th of July BBQ obviously…I can't stand it when Spielberg bleaches his films...it's worse than Scorsese's or Spike's soft light technique...

"Haywire" liked it alot more the second go around...one hell of a front snap kick,there...(y)

"Lawless"...this is the first thing Nick Cave has put his name or time to that fails...in short the movie get's LaBeouf'd...Shia's storyline features his terrible southern accent which comes and goes and a dud of a romance sub plot...recast this thing and take the film noir approach behind the "The Proposition" and you might have had a decent bootlegging/ganster flick...Nick Cave and "The Bootleggers" do pull off an awesome version of "White Heat/White Light in the mostly N.C soundtrack...

C

"Moonlight Kingdom"...maybe it's time Wes stopped making movies that are largely intended for himself...has it's few moments and all of Anderson's set/scenery,stylization,optical signatures and illusions...I do however want one of those tents...

Paperboy, great movie, better than Argo. Argo is so shitty. Very similar to Traffic, a movie that so important, so topical, so political.....a movie I will never watch again. McFarlane saved the oscars for me

”Searching for Sugerman”… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125608/?ref_=sr_1)Definitely an interesting story but not a monumental Documentary by any means…pretty sure that it won the Oscar just due to the massive juggernaut of a press campaign the filmmakers did for it recently…

”7 Psychopaths”… (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1931533/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)I liked it,made me smile….good, campy, violent fun in L.A and the dessert…reminds me of a string of this type of film that happened in the early to late 90’s…like Two Day’s in the Valley, Love and a .45,True Romance,U-Turn

MC Moot

"Skyfall"...well holy shit that was enjoyable...lived up to the hype of "Best Bond Ever"...a much better all around film than "Argo" and a much better action flick than the batman joint...I need to re-rent "Layer Cake" which is the first thing I remember Craig in...(y)

”Magic Trip” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235790/)…this is actually a pretty painful documentary to watch but important for any fan of the beats and the whole prankster era…it shows what the consequences of “getting on the bus” really were…not so much all lovey dovey, magical, exploratory or shambhala like…in reality it was a speed and acid induced frenzy with pretty much unbearable living conditions, coast to coast…Listening to Neal Cassady’s dopamine rants is eerily reminiscent of Jim Jones selling Kool-aid in Guyana…

”Batman: Under the Red Hood” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1569923/ )…thoroughly entertaining and just nasty enough…

“The Man With the Iron Fists”…someone needs to tell RZA that just because your pals with Tarantino and getting high and watching bad kung fu flicks is your fave pastime does not mean you should have anything to do with actually making a movie…a really lousy movie, snuffed it before 45 mins…the soundtrack score is ridiculous…

Men In Black 3 - good, better than the 2nd one by a mile. Josh brolin was really good.

Watched the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy again but this time with my eldest daughter (6 going on 26) and she loved it but asked a lot of questions.

I downloaded that doco, haven't watched it yet, but finished reading On The Road and was fairly interested in that time period for a little bit. Will check it out.

Watched the American version of Girl With A Dragon Tattoo last night. The Swedish was better. I don't think Fincher added that much to the story, probably just cluttered it with more unneccesary style related stuff. And it had about 5 endings too many, as though they were trying to find an ending to lead to the next one. Which they're yet to make. So yeah pretty pointless, but entertaining bits within admittedly.

"Lockout” (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1592525/ )...I like both the sci-fi and prison movie shtick but this was a little disappointing considering it was Luc Besson and Guy Pearce in the mix…not bad, but just not great…ya know…Guy Pearce looks like he did a course of roids for this one, holy bulk up…

"Cabin in the Woods"...I'm a little baffled about all the praise that was heaped unto this when it was first released...was labeled as being genre changing...nope,I didn't see that at all...

Alpha Papa : Alan Partridge

Brilliant. Funniest film i have seen at pictures for a long time. Really good jokes, some daft, some clever. And its a bit different from any other partridge stuff. I would urge you to see it even if you havent seen any partridge stuff.

I watched Only God Forgives, but I thought it wasn't bad. Though I think it's because I focused more on visuals above all, including visual metaphors. In that sense it was pretty nice. I think it's too slow for most people, though. And I don't really care about seeing it more than once.

Very enjoyable. Bit naff, very silly and over the top but visually brilliant and loads of great action, blood and good tunes.
