I'd never heard about the comic before the thread appeared here, so I can't compare the two things.

Finally saw "Cars" after avoiding it a few times - it was on Sky Premier yesterday. It was alright but not up there with most of pixar stuff. Some nice little gags but it was too much for kids wheras some othe other pixar films have kept all ages interested a bit more.
Wanted.
I saw the trailer and scoffed at it's levels of nonsense, but then I realised it was being directed by Nightwatch director Timur Bekmambetov so I gave it a go and was pleasantly suprised. It's actually really good fun and the special effects are very stylish and full of subtle little touches.

I thought the trailer looked awful, too. But the movie's good!?

I might go see that today.
you probably won't like it.
Hulk. It was alright. Nowhere near as good as Iron Man as people were saying. It did start off pretty strong in Brazil, but slowed down here and there. too many "i love you" kind of scenes...but if I remember correctly, Bruce was always a sucker for the ladies, so I could look past that.
Wanted. I liked it. I wasn't expecting it to be great and it wasn't. But it was a fun movie. Some parts were predictable. But it still had its moments. And the over the top action sequences were entertaining.
Hatchet. Pretty bad. semi-decent for a B horror movie. A couple of good/hilarious kill scenes, but thats about it.
I thought the trailer looked awful, too. But the movie's good!?

It's not amazing but as far as special effects driven movies go it's quite credible and not as cheesy as the 'Angelina Jolie spinning a car about and sweaping a fella off his feet' scene in the trailer.
Besides Morgan Freemans in it playing a cool head assasin role so thats half the price of your ticket redeemed already.

I saw it the other day and it was horrible. I kept watching him smoke and did you notice that he never inhaled? He would puff his cheeks out and quickly blow out the smoke. He seemed like a wannabe to me and the medical aspect of the film was out of place.

Lost for over two decades, Troma Entertainment, with the assistance of Writer/Producer Carlton J. Albright, has gone to great lengths to track down one of the only surviving original prints to create an exclusive new digital transfer of this legendary cult classic!

Its OK. I was kinda underwhelmed to be honest. Don't see the big hullaballoo
the dark knight was incredible. extremely intense and an emotional rollercoaster. ledger was the quintessential villian and joker, utterly perfect. but if there is anyone who may receive an oscar nomination, it could be aaron eckhart. his role as harvey dent/two-face was huge and he gave the performance of his career. this one was completely different from the first film, and i can't wait to go and see it again.

The Dark Knight - Awesome. A little too long, but thats ok. Pretty much what everyone has been saying.
Semi-Pro - Strong start.....fell asleep about 40 minutes in. I thought I would give it a chance because when Talladega Nights came out all I did was talk smack about how it was going to suck. Finally saw it and thought it was terrible. Watched it again....and liked it...a lot. But I don't see that happening with this one. Again, really funny beginning but it falls off, real quick.

Ken Park - (n) I thought Kids was good, so I thought I'd give this one a try, but it sucks ass. No story, annoying characters, just some random 'shocking' images. Utter waste of my 5 euros.
Chasing Amy - Because I found a Kevin Smith DVD box I'd forgotten about and remembered how much I like his films. I hadn't seen this one yet and I really liked it. Though I'm not a fan of Affleck (I dunno, his face tends to annoy me) I thought he was alright in this. Typical Smith dialogue, lesbians, comic book geeks and, rather importantly, Jason Lee, who does not only look ridiculously hot, but also kicks Affleck's butt in the acting department.

I'm still watching it actually. It's way gay.
the colors are gorgeous though. the acting is fine. costumes are good. I think what's ruining it is that her pig face really wasn't that bad looking. and there's narration, which usually kills a movie. also, I don't get why half the people are british, half are american. and why some of the british/scottish people that are in it are using american accents.
honestly, I think what ruins it most is the music. it just doesn't have any emotional weight at all.
the only reason I'm even still watching it is because james mcavoy is fucking hot. and the colors, they really are beautiful.

Good show though
Do you think genetics makes a person a killer or they choose to be? I come from the school of thought that a person makes a conscious decision to be a serial killer- I do believe that once you cross that line with the 1st kill that it'd be hard to stop but it's an interesting show at any rate.

ooooh. weeeelllll. how bad is your fear of heights? what floor of a building could you comfortably look out from?
there are certainly some scenes - photography and film (although they dont have the twin tower walk on archive film - only the sydney harbour bridge/notre dame ones) - that make you go woooooaahhh - dude is crazy, but they don't linger on them to an enormous extent. but eh. maybe, maybe not. again, depends on your fear. he's not just, like, walking between the twin towers. he's freakin' lying down.. and kneeling and SALUTING! it's not just a quick one-two jaunt from one side to the other.
i would give it a go, and if it really irks you, leave. but it is well, well worth it and a fantastic piece of planning, luck, genius and downright balls.
abcdefz
08-10-2008, 05:13 PM
I can look out from a building -- like, if I'm looking out at the horizon, I'm good. It's just that if I look down or think about looking down or
see someone in a situation where they could fall from any decent height or think about it, I start to get sick. Like, climbing up on a roof
gives me serious sweats. Getting up on a chair to change a bulb in the ceiling gives me a little bit of queasy.
I've got a good imagination, so when I see a picture of somebody doing that, I can almost literally feel the space beneath them. It doesn't
take much.
I had a copy of a magazine that reviewed the movie. It was in the bathroom, and I kept accidentally seeing that picture. One night it
was really, really hard to get back to sleep because that image and sensation stuck in my head.
But I like good movies, and all I'm hearing about this one are raves....

hrmm.. i think you may be a little spooked, a-z. they certainly don't shy away from the fact that he is very, very high up and um.. mms away from certain death.
the thing is though - you know he is going to be okay, you know he's alive now and was successful, so maybe that will help?
it's a darling film. i'd give it a go and practice your deep breathing :)

'cool hand luke'
-<<SPOILERS>>-
that movie had the most fake looking turtle i ever seen in my entire life
Son of Rambow.
I found it hard to see why this was praised so highly by the critics. I found it dull and the two (kids) in the main roles irritating. I didn't watch it all but I gave it more than enough time to shine.

man on wire.
i saw it by myself cos i got dingied (highland turns of phrase for you, there) but absolutely no regrets!
what a wonderful, wonderful little film! one of my favourites this year, i think. i want philippe to be my loony older uncle or something - what a daring dude.
brilliantly made. i urge everyone to go and see it!
I read about this guy yesterday-the first i'd heard of the film too. Really hope to get to see it-he sounds like an amazing freaky genius loon-kind of like the peeps who climb overhangs freestyle.
watched Bank Job last night-wasn't bothered about watching it but really liked it. liked David Suchet as nasty-ass porn baron! Jason Statham starred as himself as usual but was ok.

The image of him kneeling and laying down on the damned thing kept me awake about an extra hour last night. I finally went out and
listened to some of the Mad Men commentary to get it out of my head.
I'm still considering it, though. I'll just grab some Dramamine and a Hefty bag at the candy counter.

I thought it was all right.
Me: The Ox-Bow Incident. First time I've ever seen Henry Fonda be not-so-great. Harry Morgan (Potter in M*A*S*H) played his pal,
and he was really good. It's always weird to see an actor you've gotten used to as an old man now, suddenly about 30 years younger.
Fine movie. Some really nice photography.
8/10.

Grosse Pointe Blank
I meant to see it back when I lived outside of Detroit because everyone had such a boner for the fact it was set in michigan. somehow I never made it.
it was pretty good. it kind of made me uneasy that the characters in the movie were supposed to be a year younger than me and they seemed so adult. other than that I found it charming and interesting.

Casino Royale
I really liked it. I was expecting something much different, i thought they had MTV-ised Bond, but they didn't, they remade him but kept him the same also. And the chicks were hot.
Looking forward to the new one
Although, I am sick to my back teeth of double-crossing. Its the laziest plot device. Now when I watch a film I just sit there trying to work out which one of the main character's mates are gonna cheat him. In Indiana Jones I think Ray Winstones character flip-flopped 4 times.

Yeah man, Casino Royale is very well made and Daniel Craig is way better doing Bond than Pierce Brosnan.
Yeah the new bond is my favorite one. I loved the gadgets and shit when I was a kid but it was nice to see something that was more true to life.
The Roger Moore bonds make me cringe nowadays :D

Neil Patrick Harris makes those movies. He's like the two cops in Superbad and McLovin. He makes it. Completely off the wall.
And I just saw Redbelt: Mamet. Great picture and as sure as the sunsets I'll watch it again
