My "special correspondant" is in attendance and has made his way to the VIP section.
Hope this show is as great as the ones I had the opportunity to see in Philly & AC.

He reports that he's standing next to some of the Beasties' family in the VIP section.
I hope homeboy gets a chance to meet the Boys themselves.
He's definitely a long time loyal fan.
...and I hope he remembers to follow the golden rule while he's in the company of VIP's

I'm seriously debating on driving up to NYC for the Friday night show.
Lord knows when they'll play these type of venues with the instruments again. I've been waiting since 1994, I don't wanna wait another 13 years.

No disrespect meant towards your friends, but I can't understand why anyone would make phone calls during a concert. I find it annoying.
But then I'm all about me and my own enjoyment when I'm at a show. Fuck keeping my fellow fans posted. :D

I was getting texts.
And it was enjoyable for me because I was not at the show.

I understand why it's enjoyable to the person stuck at home. But I don't understand the motivation of the person who is texting you instead of enjoying the concert. I feel the same way about photos during the concert. If I was taking them, I wouldn't enjoy myself.
I sometimes think that people enjoy letting other people know that they were at the show more than they enjoy the show itself.
(I'm not bashing your friend. He/she is probably just selfless and wants to share the experience with you.)

It's just someone wanting to share their excitement for the show with a fellow Beastie geek.
Also consider this person was reporting from the VIP section, not the pit in the GA section.

Sending a few texts seems mild when you think about the fact that some people have the time to take pics and post them on their blog all from the front row of a festival.

I don't bring a camera, phone, or blackberry to a Beasties show. It's all about me and my band. :)
That's me though. I'm selfish.

yeah, i think this person became a topic of conversation last week after the Philly show..... of course i sent text messages to most people this weekend, most importanly Pootyang when I heard Adrock's dedication..from then on I was in disbelief, shock and awe or whatever and asking myself all night..did that really happen??

Hey, I've been as guilty as anyone of shitting on happy vibes. The internet killed my manners, and I hate that. But I'm trying harder.

Thanks for stickin' up though. I am ready for my threads to be closed. I was impressed with the goodwill lately but it can last so long before it turns into pansy shit, I'm more from the hardcore community where everyone tears each other up in forums, blogs, violence at shows, the singer from the CandySnatchers getting clocked in the face at the Murphy's Law show, my
friends ....shit i remember 10 years some hardcore girl killed herself over some shit another girl wrote in her online journal. or that neo-nazi skinhead i saw laying on the ground unconscious blood leaking from his teeth after a hardcore show, he was laying in the grass across the street from the venue and i strolled on past him knowing some of my friends did that to him, i thought he was dead at first but didn't stick around to find out. punks jump up just to get beat down. i'll admit that i'm not always a nice guy and yeah i've been bummed lately. moving on.

i got there about half an hour after the show started. smallish outdoor venue, really really excellent show. the crowd was rilleh-rilleeeh feelin it. i especially noticed during most of the MIX UP songs, all types of people were groovin to them. i noticed that after off the grid, i heard a few people who didnt seem like regular fans saying, "aww hells yeah..." and "damn, what was that? that was nooice!" (yes, those are quotes).. props to that, they sounded great and the sound at the place was pretty damn good.
i saw one or two ol' mb-hedz chillin out back ( ! ), but i didnt realize was them till later and it was too late, i couldnt find them again. nyc bboys crew seemed to be in full effect - lotsa of familar faces back there. i didnt want to bother anyone for anything but i did see yauch mike and adam at arms length (whoodey-doodey!) afterwards. it was chill and i didnt want to be a pain in the ass... they were chatting to friends and eithing - probably intrusive to be all 'hey adrock!' and that. it would be amusing to everyone else if i did though im sure ;P~derff!
it was great enough to watch the show from the sidelines and to see all the excitement, that and the cold water... IT WAS A DAMN HOT NYC NIGHT! poor dudes up there in their suits! + lights! ouch - i was dripping in shorts and short sleeves! no one can ever say the boys dont put it out there for their peoples. god forbid those shits are polyesther.. jesus. maury;s suits on queens blvd dont like hot lights. im more than satisfied just having been at that show - NYC! there was a little kid in a soccer jersey who i think got to say hello, that was cool. i was that kid in the schoolyard back in the day with orange-foam headphones listening to brass monkey not knowing what it was about and having kids thinking the spanish kid was listening to salsa, ha. how fun for a kid! i didnt want to go too crazy with the camera, i got a couple of clips + pics from the front left side. A MOST EXCELLENT SHOW NONE-THE-LESS. everyone else has all the deets
the band seemed really happy to be doing a show in nyc. they just seem to vibe with a ny crowd - because this is home. i think they;re probably just as happy playing new places all around, but being home has to be something else on its own for anyone to play. they had to have chilled around central park as kids. to actually play in that place - effin diana ross! need i say more? the homefield advantage. that and the smaller place, hot weather, subway troubles (rrrrrridick for a lot of people in ny today (http://www.newsday.com/news/local/transportation/am-stor0809,0,5606496.story?coll=ny-homepage-more-breaking-news)), seems like a more familiar vibe between the stage and the crowd. next to msg, central park is pretty "historic", like adam h said during the show. no doubt. it rained that for her show but diana doesnt have shit on the beastie boys today (http://youtube.com/watch?v=9VuZMIOYMcQ).**
ch-check it out sticks out in my memory, mike went off for about two minutes in the middle of "freeeeeesh"... if felt like he was gonna practically sit down and build a house of cards or some shit before they went back into it. good shit, the crowd loved it.
ok thats all. cheers to all the peeps i saw and those that i missed.
damn the nyc subways were shit tonight, its late.. i got all my performance pics off my cam. time to go to sleep. time to make the donuts.
peace out'challs
**that diana ross clip is really funny - "sing louder, robert <SLAP!>" props d.r., vma's

I called my friends during the beastie boys/run dmc show back in 87. Had to rub it in because they stood us up when we got them tickets.
