For the first show that the Beastie Boys ever performed in Brooklyn...
Opening song: Hello Brooklyn
Closing song: No Sleep Till Brooklyn
Incredible show.

The pool was sick- I'd definitely say sicker than the park! shit was on and shit was right. So crazy- I totally lost my shit when Hello Brooklyn started us off and I whiled out the entire show. Great show- tight as always- energy was pumping. Check my sig for my favorite moment.:)

yeah it's kind of tough to compare the two, because overall the setlists had a lot of similarities. but from where I was, at least, the energy at the Brooklyn show was WAY stronger than the Summerstage show. And those Brooklyn song bookends were a great touch. I'd heard both of them live before, but seeing them performed here was like 100x more intense than seeing them in other places.

front and center. the sound from there was straight up terrible for the first half of the set until i'm guessing the sound man woke up. i dont remember song for song what the setlist was but they played songs they typically dont do like in 3's and egg raid on mojo. its funny because since there were so many hipsters, i think at least half the crowd had no idea what was going on when they did songs like that.

I had a totally different take on it- I thought the crowd was completely into it the whole show and the sound was great from start to finish- if it sounded off at the beginning I certainly didn't notice because the energy was so CRAZY that everyone I was with and everyone around me was WAY freakin pumped. Also I was much less annoyed by the hipsters than I expected to be- they were way into the show- why you haten?

SICK SHOW! (y) i was @ cent. pk show too, but bkln def was better.
i'm going again tonight @ hammerstein too! is that a hat trick or turkey? (i did this on "check your head tour" w/ rollins band opening, also- 2 shows @ roseland, next night @ rutgers)
as far as hipster: it is brooklyn after all...w.burg is THE origin of hipsterism. tight women's jeans/pants on guys, real metro. i didn't see any novels or books being carried though. (gotta love that look, i just picked up "Hipsters for Dummies", so i too can be hip) as the great Ad Rock once said-" ...think i'm gonna change up MY style...just to FIT IN?" says it all.
that look was bad back in the 80's and still is...

Sux I didn't get to meet up with anyone. I barely got to see all of my friends.
As my boy Kev said it to me this morning
"So I guess the Beasties can finally sleep!"

I was in the back standing just above the "shallow end" of the pool just left of center. the view was perfect, the sound was awsome, the crowd was jumping pretty much the entire night (except for the instrumentals) and there were people standing on the roofs and balconies of the apartment buildings all around the pool listening in. it was an awsome show.

I hear ya, although in the interest of full disclosure I was reading a book before the central park show, but I ain't a hipster. I definitely felt like the Brooklyn gig at the pool was as good a show as I've seen the boys do(which admittedly is limited to the last few tours). The energy and vibe in the pool as well as the setlist and power of the boys performance made for a top f'n notch show for me. I guess we might be agreeing to disagree here. I'm sorry you weren't as blown away by the show as I was. I just remember before I went in a couple debating about weither they were going to go in or go home because it was very threatening looking and maybe even drizzling a little. I don't know what they did, but I remember thinking in my head- "your out of your fucking mind if you don't go to this show". I felt totally vindicated in thinking that now!:)

roger that. about the couple discussing whether to go home or not...thats my point. those were one of many total hipsters and/or people who've probably never gone to a show where the crowd actually dances, crowd surfs, moshes, etc.

That show kicked ass & I was right there on the rail, dead center & I couldn't get enough of them. Ask Mike D who I was screaming to all the time. Having the boys back in Brooklyn was truly a night to remember.

It will be the last time I see the Beatsies. I want to end on a high-note, and this show was it. They put on the best show I've seen in years (right up there with the Randy's Rodeo show from waaay back in the day). Speaking of; where the hell was Ricky Powell? I thought for sure he'd be there to introduce them for their first ever Brooklyn show! They missed a chance to have some awesome guests join them...like when I saw N.E.R.D. at Irving Plaza and Kellis and Jay Z came on stage to drop some serious shit. The Beatsies could have easily called in a favor or two...all I'm saying...
