Live Draft is set for Sunday, 8-19 @ 1pm.
We need 10 more people. Free leagues are automatically 12 people.

i joined the cbs one cause i got a pm
even though this means i'll have 3 teams on different sites
is that where everyone else is going? do we have others?
RobMoney$

Me & Digi are organizing the cbs league.
Seems like the site itself will actually be the commish. Being it's a free league there is no customizing anything. It's just a basic scoring system, but I HATED the Yahoo scoring system last year anyway. This scoring system looks to make a lot more sense. No more Chicago D scoring 35 points a week and outscoring QB's who were averaging 8 points a week, like last year.

You can customize all the point categories in the yahoo league.
Nothing wrong with a few Hester TDs, sacks, and picks racking up some points.
Don't be shocked this year when The Bear has a top 3 offense this year.

Is 8/19 the best draft date we could get? Almost 3 weeks before the 1st game? Allot happens in those 3 weeks.
RobMoney$
08-13-2007, 04:32 PM
They made me pick a date when creating the league. After consulting with Digi, I picked 8-19. I could push it back a couple weeks, but I'd have to create a new league and we'd all have to re-register, not that would be a big deal or anything.
Or you could go ahead and create a new league on your own and I'll just join that one.
Whatever.

You should draft Benson in the first round.
Put your money where your mouth is.
Yeah, I think Rex is gonna regress this year.
P.S. Thanks for the cd, skinny. ITS AWESOME.
I am in. Beware of Victorious Secret.
My other team the Double Wide Trailers also play in a pay league on CBS Sportsline.

Regular, please. I've yet to plunge into 21st century technology.

We've got six people, we need six more.
I don't see us getting 6 more people before Sunday. I have a yahoo league at work that 4 or 5 people are in for sure. You guys are welcome to join that league. We were talking about doing it for $20. I'm fine with making it free.
I'd rather talk shit & rule a competitive league with people I have played before then take a few dollars off of novices from my work. We can adjust defensive points if majority rules.
PM me if you want in.
I know there's people here that would be in, they just haven't been around. If anything, we might need to push back the draft date.
I think Turd should play. He might pick Kevin Garnett in the 1st round.
If any of you have ever played on sportsline, you know it's worth it. Shit's 1000 times better than yahoo.
Turd's Order:
1. Garnett
2. Paul Pierce
3. Ray Allen

If we don't have enough people by Saturday, and I'd be shocked if we do, I'll suggest I create another league with a later draft date.
Regular season starts Thurs., Sept. 6.
I'll make the draft for Sun., Sept 2@ 1pm. If anyone would prefer a different time or date, please feel free to speak up.
or
We can all just go in with SBP's yahoo league.
For the record, the defensive points weren't really the problem for me. It was everyone elses points.
QB's got one point for 20 yards passing, which was fine,
but RB's, WR's, and TE's also only got 1 point for 20 yards ru. & rec. The difference between an elite RB/WR/TE and a marginal RB/WR/TE was minimal.
I like 1 point for every 10 yards RU. & REC. and a bonus for 100 yards.

Okay guys, I am doing one with some friends. I have never done this before but I am doing some research and I think I am getting it.
Our league is at espn.com. We're currently scheduled for an autopick draft and it looks like the espn prerankings are already loaded into my account.
How does the autopick work? If I leave the espn.com rankings as my pre-rankings then autopick should pick the best team I can get overall depending on what my draft position ends up being, right? It looks like it’s the overall rankings, not the rankings by position.
I get that a good strategy is to pick running backs and quarterbacks first. But how can I prerank if I don't know what my draft position is going to be? Or should I just assume that I'm going to go last?
What is the best order to pick positions after picking the best running backs and quarterbacks I can get? I would think wide receiver, then defense, then Kicker, then Bench.
What do you think?
RobMoney$
08-30-2007, 05:13 PM
Autopick is where the computer does all the picking, automatically. The computer will randomly make a draft order and will draft the players according to how each person has them ranked. You rank every player and can customize your rankings and the computer will pick you highest ranked player when it's your turn. ESPN will probably have the players ranked at a pretty good order to help beginners like yourself out.
If there is a player you think is a sleeper you should probably move him up in your rankings to try to insure that you will get him before he comes up in someone else's que.
The first round will go picks 1-10, then the second round will go in reverse order, 10-1, and so on.
and Yes, RB's are important because there are only a handful of stud ones to get and you're pretty much dead if you don't get one of them.
My order of importance for positions is RB, QB, WR, TE, Def., K. Your first pick should be a RB, or Peyton Manning. No one else is worthy of being picked in the top 10 picks.
Don't worry about getting a K until after round 12 minimum. They are all pretty much the same and there's always a couple of guys who everyone thinks is going to stink and winds up being great that year. And there's always a guy everyone thinks is gonna be a stud and winds up sucking.
Good Luck

So I have two QBs, Vince Young and Jake Delhomme. Young is ranked higher (at least at espn.com) but Delhomme had an awesome game last week. Young didn't and he's playing the Colts this week. The Colts shut down the NO offense last week so I'm thinking its not a good sign. Delhomme is playing the Texans this week. Their defense is the second lowest ranked in the league.
I'm thinking about playing Delhomme this week.

Now I need RB advice.
I have Larry Johnson but he didn't have a great game last week against the shitty Texans D. He's playing Chicago this week (#2 defense), I am not optimistic. But he's highly ranked so I feel like I should leave him in.
I fucking traded Willis McGahee for stupid Vince Young. Vince better start performing.

I have Ahman Green. He had a decent game last week againt KC (crappy D)and he's playing the Panthers this week (decent D). Probably should leave him in.
My D is the Panthers D anyway. I am so confused.

I have Deuce McAllister who didn't do well against the Colts last week. This week he's playing Tampa Bay who buckled to the Seahawks last week (go Hawks! 5 sacks). So I don't know...
I also have Warrick Dunn. He's the lowest ranked RB that I have, he didn't do great against the Vikings last week. This week he's playing a tough D too.
Hmmm, is he a better bet than Ahman or Larry?

Onto the wide receivers.
I have Fitzgerald and Houshmandzadeh in.
I don't know, T.J. has a knee injury. But he's playing the Browns.
I have Hines Ward, Reggie Brown, Braylon Edwards, and Mike Furrey on the bench (damn, how did I end up with so many wide receivers and only one D?)
I have this gut feeling that I should put in Hines Ward but who would I swap him in for? T.J. or Fitzgerald?
Hines Ward > T.J.
Not because I live in Pittsburgh, but Hines and Santonio Holmes are gonna be money this year. We have a new O coordinator that's gonna open up the offense, so if you have either of these two, play them religiously.

Wide Receivers: Ocho Cinco came to play and turned five catches into 95 yards and one jacket-donning touchdown. T.J. Houshmandzadeh had nine receptions as the primary receiver but only 50 yards and one score. The Bengals tried to involve Tab Perry who could not catch any of his four passes. With Chad Johnson and Houshmandzadeh both scoring, they really do not need him anyway.
Johnson almost always has great games against the Browns. He had 78 yards on six receptions and a score at home and later 123 yards on seven catches for one score on the road. Houshmandzadeh turned in almost mirror games against them last year when he had 78 and 79 yards and scored once in each contest.
Wide Receivers: Hines Ward snared three passes for 51 yards and the first score last week but equally as encouraging was Santonio Holmes catching two passes for 55 yards and a score as well. Holmes is the one to watch in this offense since the second year player has all the signs of an early breakout year. No other Steeler wideout even had a catch last week with the minimal passing though Cedrick WIlson turned an end around into a 37 yard gain. With only 12 completions it is still too early to get a handle on what this new passing game can do but four scores says it's almost certainly to be very good things.
Wide Receivers: The dynamic duo was completely shutdown last week when Larry Fitzgerald only had three catches for 20 yards and Anquan Boldin totaled just 22 yards on four catches - those are some rather short routes. Boldin did score the lone receiving touchdown but Leinart was unable to connect on any long passes with his wideouts last Monday. The only working plays were ridiculously short and that's not a positive sign for the pair if this new offense keeps it short. It is only one game but not a good one by any stretch.
Boldin had games of 6-62 and 4-47 against the Seahawks last year but never scored. Fitzgerald had a low effort in Seattle of just 52 yards but had seven catches for 79 yards and scored a touchdown back at home.
WR Braylon Edwards
Edwards doesn't have a real good matchup this week with a solid Bengals secondary, but he will see plenty of passes come his way and may produce enough in garbage time to warrant a borderline start in some leagues as a WR3.
WR Larry Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald failed to gain separation on the Niners Monday night and his stats showed for it. He was targeted a team high 9 times however. A good sign. Look for a big game from him this weekend as his matchup with CB Trufant is a very favorable one.
WR Mike Furrey
Furrey was the odd man out last week with the speedy McDonald coming on. This could be a trend that really hurts Furrey's fantasy value. If he loses opportunities to McDonald his prime fantasy feature - consistency - may be shot.
WR Hines Ward
Another great matchup for Ward against an injury depleted secondary.
WR Reggie Brown
Brown, along with the rest of the Philly passing game, was mostly ineffective last week. This week should play out differently however. Look for both Brown and Curtis to put together solid performances against a Washington secondary that has corners they can beat with their speed and safeties that are great in run support but a liability in coverage.
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh
Didn't get the long score like Johnson, but that's just not TJ's game. His game is consistent fantasy production and this week should be no different.
