i'm looking to get a credit card for myself, mostly just to build some credit for when i go to buy a car or get a house in the (hopefully) near future.
i just want something that i can put a low max on so im never tempted to buy something i can't afford and will get a little something back
any suggestions?
One of those you can open locked doors with.

I always have money saved in the bank so I never really needed a credit card, but I know its good to build up your credit
so when I went to apply for one I was angry that my bank for the past 20ish years wouldnt give me a card with higher than a 500 dollar limit and said it would take me like 2 years to get any higher than 2000 on it
so I bitched about it and my boss at work overheard me, called her own bank and scored me a 2000 dollar limit card that very same day PLUS i get air miles on ever purchase

i should've gotten a credit card for myself by now, just to get a credit rating. i was planning on getting one before i went to melbourne, but if i did i prolly would've maxed it out of shoes, alcohol and lapdances

As opposed to the US, Australians cant get a 'good' credit rating. Its either nothing, or its a bad rating. So there's no need for you to get a credit card.
I heard it on the J's , so it must be true, they had some credit card lady on top shelf!

true. a while ago i went to get a new laptop on finance, but i couldn't get it because i'd never taken out any sort of loan, never had a credit card, nothing like that. it's ridiculous, you've been wise enough to save money so you dont have to get a personal loan/credit card, therefore we're not going to let you finance this thing. i need to get a credit to avoid any shit like that happening again

On my bucks i got shouted $400 worth of lapdances. I had conversations with all of them, though. I'd make awesome novel fodder.

I went on a date with a chick i met on myspace on wed night, and I took her to adelaide's classiest strip bar, called the palace. we sat there and laughed and drank and talked about boobs all night long, then went back to my place and got it owwwwrrrnnnn.
best date ever

Yeah I heard that, oooooooooooh, Kevin Rudd went to a strip club overseas in 2003. He doesn't recall the night because he had too much to drink.
Last I heard, going to a strip club is legal, as is drinking.
Desperate attempt by the Liberal Party to discredit him. Its not gonna work.
Rudd all the way!
note to americans - The Liberal Party is actually the conservative right wing party.
Labor (Kevin Rudd) is considered more centralist, with slight tinges of left.

*more likely to vote Rudd, as can appreciate the humanism of his 'error'*

Sure, i can accept that he's just a normal bloke doing what guys do.
What I think will affect his vote is not the fact he went to a whore's club, but the fact that he portrays himself as a devout christian. It just makes him look like a massive hypocrite. If it were mark latham, there wouldn't even be a news article.

if you get an american express card (the regular one that you have to pay in full at the end of each month), then you really would only be able to use it like cash. the nice thing is you can track your spending at the end of the year when they break down where all your money went. and it's an easy way to deduct expenses off your taxes when it's broken down like that.

that seems like something that could work well. i plan on paying it off every month and probably won't use it for any purchases except stuff like fueling and groceries.
my mom said she would put aside anything that showed up in the mail, but i kind of want to get seomthing started now since i hope to work on getting a car in the next couple months as well, so anything would help.
