Yes and no. They've done some similar type of online/computer type stuff. They were one of the first bands on the internets and did a chat session about 12 years ago on like prodigy or something. They have also allowed their images to be featured in that basketball game. They did a computerized video for Oh Word. They did that video game like frogger with bush/cheney/rice. And there are probably another couple things I'm forgetting.

So it's not completely out of context. Just one their many one offs.

Like alikat said I, too, am too old for this. But I'm relying on kids to record, screencap, and report back. (y)

It is a great gesture by the Beasties, but that was probably the biggest waste of an hour I've spent in my life. I had to hang around in my virtual underwear for 50 minutes talking to a bunch of blockheads and then when they drop by I catch, "We're not touring in Houston, bye." and thats it.

I have to admit with most of the music I listen to I don't really register the titles to songs. I just recognize them as I hear them. Most Beastie songs are that way to me. I look at set lists and think what song is that? I have a terrible memory as it is so maybe that's the cause. As long as the music is great I don't think I'm taking any pop quizzes on titles.

yep, that's how I felt when I was walking off the USS New Jersey in Camden, NJ and could hear their soundcheck across the water, clear as ever, especially Yauch's bass..it was a special moment.

Adrock was there. I some how blocked him when he was walking away from the sofa area. I asked him what he did after the Central Park show and he said he ate some pizza. over an hour early. Pebbie and I got there early and chatted with
the crowd. Lots of friendly new and experienced members. We chatted
and those with DX8 set watched the videos. The band arrived with
many staff in tow. It took a moment for their clothing to load, but
after that, we danced a bit, Adrock had a seat and gabbed a bit. We
all wished they could have stayed longer, but all in all it was a

Ok, so I went to check one of these out. What can I say. It was just like sex. 30 minutes of anticipation/preparation, 2 minutes of rapid activity and then it was over. Wonder what is on TV :)

I went to the one on comet with my daughter and I have to say this was not planned or executed very well. Why have a stage if it's going to be used She was told to make sure to stay in her spot so she wouldn't lose it, so stayed in her seat than was told by another avatar that they were in the center of the room. She was also told that the avatar tried to IM her but she was afk. I was sitting right with her and she was never afk than she was told that the avie stood right in front of her and told her they were in the center of the room by the time she got to the center of the room they were gone, they said they were there 5 minutes but that was not the case. These events could be better planned and executed and if this is the
way to get new members than what they see is poor management of an event. That IMO would not help to increase membership.
