I was at Red Rocks the previous night. I liked the show. Had an awesome time got to wave at the boys and was stoked. My story is down further "Dear Beasties: A Night on the Rocks" However NOTHING could surpass the awesome that was the Gala show at the Filmore.

It started out as me and my bf being bummed that we couldn't go line up early cause I couldn't leave the dogs home in the kitchen for over 8 hours. (One is a puppy and they are VERY attached so they hate when we leave) However I knew either way the show would be great and maybe we could squirm up to the front. We get our fancy pants on and leave around 4. We get at the Filmore at about 4:30- 5 and NO ONE is in line. We fucking lucked out! We end up with being 2nd in line only 2 hours before showtime.

While waiting what seemed like forever we get told there will be a formal and informal line. That's cool cause I got my dress on and my man has his hot hat some nice slacks and a nice button down shirt. This guy then starts telling us formal for men is going to be a sportcoat AND tie. So here we are 2nd in line and my bf needs a coat and tie or we end up getting in LAST. My sister was meeting us for the show so I call her up, she goes the Salvation Army on her way, others in line are doing the same. They didn't tell us the stardard for women and I am all worried they are gonna bust out with something ridiculous like heels and pantyhose. Of course as my sister goes and parks with tie and coat in hand they come back out and tell us it will only be ONE line now. THANK YOU! The crowd was dressed nice but many did not have coat and tie.

After the dress-up fiasco we finally get in!. After almost face planting myself running to the front I manage to snag us 1st row center. We even were next to the folks in front of us in line. They were really nice! We are so sorry we didn't get to say bye! If you read this please pm me =)

The same DJ opened that opened for Red Rocks. Static Avenger or Revenger? I have no idea. He played some good beats but maybe a actual band or something might have been a better opener. It was more like he was playing the waiting music because when you are packed into a standing room only venue in your fancies you arn't really up from some club dancing. Even though I like his beats his set was almost identical to his at RR which kinda was lame.

Finally after he was done they had another 15-20 min wait till the Beasties. JUST like at Red Rocks. When I saw the schedule for this show in the production office at RR yesterday I was skeptical because the times were almost identical! However turned out to be the exact same. The wait was killer especially being front row center against the gate.

The beasties came out the crowd went insane. I'm not a set list kinda person. I am sure if you want to know you can find out. I can tell you it was mostly instrumentals which I think everyone expected. I must say their instrumental songs sound 10000000% better live. Don't get me wrong I enjoy them otherwise but when they are live they go from nice chill out music to dancing music! They did however play some of their normal stuff and their hardcore. Towards the end the crowd was really pumped and we were getting pummeled into the gate in front. What can you expect at the concert though? It didn't ruin my experience one bit except when the security down stood on the gate in front of me with their junk in my face.

There were a few slip ups in the show but it seemed to give the whole experience more charm. The banter was fun and entertaining and the boys seemed like they were having a good time even though it was hotter than hell in the place. Poor MCA looked very beat by the heat but still pulled some smiles out. I swear they recognized us from yesterday (we were cleaning backstage and they waved bye as they left RR) as we kept getting these I think I've seen you somewhere looks from mainly MCA. We could be crazy though haha but it did feel personal to us. MCA pointed his statue and said something maybe to me I just nodded and then he smiled. It was awesome. The whole show, the experience, EVERYTHING. I thought it couldn't top our night before but it did a million times over. Whether the guys really recognized us I don't know. I will just go on thinking they did cause that makes me happy haha. My bf who had always just been a casual fan admitted to me now they are his favorite and he sees why I love them so. It all started after my first show too.

These guys just throw down live and never give off the whole we're just here to play get out and take your money vibe. We get snubbed alot backstage at RR because we are the cleaning people but these guys never were crappy. Most people hole up in the dressing rooms and maybe meet their aftershow crowd in a "book signing" type of event. The whole I'm just here to say hi cause I have too then I'm leaving. After the show at RR they we just in the catering room bullshitting with people. They are stand-up chaps in my book and I will continue to attend their shows as much as I can.

My reviews aren't all about the show but just my experience. I figure if you want a step by step of what was played and said you can find that anywhere. If you can go to a Gala event you should. I think the small setting makes it so personal and I really loved the instumentals. I think the Gala events are more hardcore Beastie fan shows where the others are more well suited for the casual fan who may just want to hear their hits.
