I've been off on and on the beastie bbs since 1997 and i've seen it go through some ups and downs but it has officially reached its peek and it no longer offers anything to the hardcore beastie fan. every single thread now is about the live shows and what are people goin to wear. i understand the excitement but i get the feeling that a lot of people who write on here are kids who didn't see one live show during the hiatus in the early 00's and are now trying to make up for it. but come on. this board used to have so many interesting people and ideas on it. from unearthing rare bootlegs to discussing the world in and around the beasties i learned quite a bit on what it meant to be a hardcore beastie fan. and i'm not even on any 'the new music sucks' type of thing, because i do enjoy it. its just that there are too many kids on here who don't listen to anything but the boys and are way to obsessed with the trivial things about the band. sorry if this sounds preachy but for me its true. being a beasties fan is not just about gala events its about being a part of a movement that has existed for 25 years. talk about the bigger picture peeps, let the young'uns know.

The gala events are what's goin on here and now, so that's what's getting discussed. People aren't gonna keep going on and on about shows that happened 7 years ago when there's new shit goin on.

I'd love to hear about some bootlegs from a show (and if anyone has any let me know) but with tighter security and all that, usually the most you can hope for is a crappy cellphone video on youtube. The times have changed, the band has changed, and so the atmosphere and behavior of the fans has changed. and yeah some younger people have gotten on but it can't be held against them that they're fans and they're 15.

I'll admit that some of the stuff is silly that goes on up here, but, me, I still like the boards and the people, and having someone I can share some of my enthusiasm with. Round these parts people my age don't listen to music like this, it seems. So after I went to my first BBoy show, this board is really the only place I got to talk about how badass it was. My real life friends didn't give a shit.

Meh - what can you do dude? The board has sucked for a long time but there are some fun people and threads around eventually. Theres really nothing you can do about it so why bother? Just because you say "this board sucks, its all about gala events, blah blah blah" doesnt mean people are gonna say "OH MY GOD HE'S RIGHT! lets find something better to talk about!" no.. here people are gonna be like - im gonna write 20 more threads just to piss this guy off.

Im not trying to sound mean, but the best advice i can offer in this situation is if you dont wanna hear about gala events and shit like that - dont click the links. Most people are very blunt with the names of their threads - so dont look inside. If you cant stand that, the best advice I can give you is to leave.

I spoke with one of the dust brothers on there as well. That was started when their website was on nando.net (site listed on the back of punk ep in 95). Then people were more still talking about pauls boutique and cyh and stuff since they were still pretty recent. Now the focus is way more on shows then talking about the sick samples on albums. Beasties have not really had any sick sample or beat to arguably Hello Nasty so there is nothing too 'hardcore' to chat about it. Its all good though. Right now its all about the shows. Maybe someday it will be about the sick new samples they dig up.

I've been following them since LTI came out when I was 16....I was no different to any other 16 year old who really loves his/hers fav band. Let people on here talk about what they like and let's not bitch about it....after all, we were young once? It's great to see BB reaching young kids in 2007! and not just us older fans who grew up with them..the younger fans are gonna be the ones who rant and rave about BB to other younger people and so the BB torch shall be passed down generation to generation..lol. I know it can get boring looking at posts about the same old thing, but, there's nothing to stop you from posting an interesting post! ;)
