this game is amazing, i haven't been this sucked into a game in quite some time
it's a spiritual successor (or maybe a straight sequel, i'm not sure) to system shock 2, so if you've ever played that or deus ex, it's that kind of gameplay (accessible FPS action with customizable weapons and skills)
but what i love more than the gameplay is the aesthetics of the whole thing. the plot and art direction are really something that i haven't seen in a game in...i can't even remember when. the plot is that in 1946 a bunch of libertarians built a city at the bottom of the ocean. in 1960, your plane crashes into the sea, and...well, see for yourself (http://youtube.com/watch?v=x8lrVd4Z9m8&mode=related&search=) (this is all gameplay). only things go horribly wrong and the place is filled with murderous freaks. i'm sure that if you're interested, you can see other gameplay videos from that page. i'm not too far into the game myself, but as you go, you pick up audio diaries, where characters in the game (many of them enemies) sort of fill you in on what exactly happened to the city, bit by bit. everything is done really really artfully, like i said, i haven't been sucked in by a game like this since mafia (well i didn't mention mafia before, but i'm mentioning it now).
anyway it's out for the PC and xbox 360 (PC version seems to be a bit buggy right now so 360 is probably your safest bet if you can stand playing FPS games on a console), seriously, go buy it. i've been getting pretty bored with games lately, but this one is...something else
