I think he's amazing in 21 grams, I don't recall any hand flourishes but it's definitely worth watching

I always get Benicio confused with Guillermo del Toro when I see thier names. I dunno much about Benicio but Guillermo is one of the best directors out there in my eyes.

Traffic bored me to death, but that's not BdT's fault. (n)

Traffic's far and away the best movie he's been in so far.
He was Bogart in that, too. (y)

Way of the Gun was like my ultimate fantasy, except I wouldn't want to be pregnant. :o Juliette Lewis was way lucky to get cast in that film. I would have paid to play that role and get manhandled by Ryan and Benicio.
I love Benicio but I think he gets over the top sometimes with his acting and way of the gun is a very good example. He does these little things with the lines which I'm sure he thinks make them seem organic but really just take you out of the moment.
Traffic is a good example of him giving subtlety a try.
He's a little over the top on 21 Grams but it somehow works.
In Usual Suspects it worked because he wasn't the focal point of the movie and had little screen time.
All in all, I usually enjoy his work.

Excess Baggage.
And I didn't think that was worth mentioning.
I haven't even seen it.

Me neither. I was kinda joking, though I guess that's not fair -- it could be good, for all I know.

it wasn't worth mentioning. terrible movie. shitty script. I think Alicia Silverstone was trying to get her own production company off the ground with that flick and it did not work.(n)
