I have an unusual prediction for the demo ticket this year...hillary running under the black man. Please no attacks for not knowing specific names.
Basically, as I have said before, the demos are throwing away their ticket. Maybe because they know they can't fix the issues in the middle east. They want to leave it to the republicans to make a "mistake"...at any point now the situation in iraq is a "mistake", kinda' like trying to fix the mess in 'nam.
respectfully,
d
critisism welcome!!!

Yeah that or ultimately they are really playing for the same team(minor quibbles aside).

Right now, I think Hillary would get it, which would make me sad. I'm not terribly fond of Obama, but I do like him better.
But either way, look at their opposition. No one's really thrilled on the other side of the carpet, either. I'd say enthusiasm shown on both sides for who they have is about equal...a kind of "meh, they're okay, I guess" attitude. Therefore, I don't think the Dems are throwing away their ticket. They have about equal chances.
I think it's about time Al Gore entered the race, but that ain't gonna happen. If he did, I'm sure he'd get people to start to care about the '08 race, because right now I just seem to see indifference.

Hillary being the front runner is quite puzzling to me actually. Really the only solid candidate that could beat any comer from the other side is Jon Edwards.
Hillary has alot of the same skeletons I loathe from the repubs and I think the MSM is not doing their job in exposing her.
So what is it? Does money really reign supreme in a time when it should be the least of our concerns?

how do you know?
gore has said that he isn't "likely" to run, but the fact of the matter remains is that he simply has not ruled it out. he's been nominated for a nobel peace prize. let's wait and see what happens this fall.

I know one of Gore's good friends who used to work with him and he seems convinced that he's not going to run. I'm still hoping he's wrong, hell, maybe he's just telling me no. But either way, I'm still not hopeful.

Yes.
Why even have these discussions then it is pointless to speculate on who's running, just need to look in their bank accounts to determine a winner.

Well the big fund raisers are Hillary and Obama and they're ahead in the polls. I believe Richardson is the most experienced person and would do the best job, but he just doesn't have the money. If they were all funded equally, perhaps he'd have more of a chance. Buuut he doesn't have the money and therefore can't get his word out. And he doesn't have the name recognition that the other two have.
It'd be nice if we had elections based on principles, perhaps. Give the voters a sheet of paper and vote for WHAT they want, rather than WHO. It'd be interesting to see how different the results would be.

I know it ain't gonna happen, but it sure would have made for a REAL debate if it had been Gore versus Newt, eh?
Love or hate either and/or both of them, at least you'd have two passionate, articulate people who'd probably implement what they ran on.
BTW, he's baaaaaaaack!
