I am so pissed off right now...
When I tried to play with the BBoys on that online computer game it gave me a virus at one point. Of course I had a good anti-virus program
that warned and I shut down everything straight away and cleaned it, it was in my temp files. And that's the only way I can think of what
has happened... I have this backup hard drive that I never have on or connected when I have the internets open, but somehow it has
crashed and says the files can't be opened and when I check what's in there it says 0 bites. There should be at least 70-80 GB of stuff,
hundreds of thousands of photos, all my work, documents, all my photos from the last three years... and now it says it's totally empty.
All my back-up, dissappeared... Feels like I can't breath, and on the other hand start to think what is important in this life,
saving all this info or life outside computer... But there's all my work as well... Of course I can gather some of the info together from
where I've posted something and my yahoo photo account, but that's less than 1%...

Does anyone know if there's a possibility to physically scan a LaCie Extreme Harddrive somehow?

there's recovery programs out there. symantec has one that i've used. i don't know of any free programs. you might be better off just bringing the hard drive into a shop.

I didn't even think there was any free programs to do that. Guess I have to ask around different stores then (there's actually some it-consult in the basement where I live, right underneath me, don't quite know what he does...). I'm quite prepared to pay a reasonable amount to get everything back, I don't wanna throw three years of work in a well...

I've got two external hard drives, 200 GB each. The other one is just for music and videos, the other for photos and documents. I can't log in the usual way to the first one either, gotta go through Folders.
What really bugs me is three years of gig photography (where I would've needed some pics for some competition) and 18 months of work pics (that I needed by the end of August...) are unreachable... And I'm going on a holiday on Sunday.

I'm so sorry! That's scary.

If you find out how it happened, please let us know. It sounds like I have the same external harddrive but I back things up because I'm afraid my computer will just die of natural causes or because I'll accidentally erase everything due to my own incompetence. I didn't think about something that would clean out my external harddrive.
