I'm still trying to figure out which songs are on the fuckin' thing.

the version I'm listening to doesn't at all match the tracklist on itunes which also doesn't match the one posted by MTV.

I've got to say... not bad at all, and I'm not a Kanye fan in the slightest. But yeah, there is some really very good stuff on here. "I Wonder," "Barry Bonds," and "Flashing Lights," are all pretty extraordinary, with Barry Bonds having a bonkers beat and a decent guest appearance from wheezy, who i don't like very much. Kanye's rapping has improved even more since his last outing, and and the music has gotten better too. "Flashing Lights," for example, floored me. Easily the best thing I have ever heard by Mr. West, and actually, most likely the best Hip Hop song I've heard this year- It was difficult to not repeat it right off the bat, which I found happening with a good number of the tracks on the disc.

But the most pleasant thing about this album, is that it is far and away the least pretentious album Kanye West has ever released. I'm pretty indifferent towards College Dropout, but his preachy and near-masturbatory grandstanding on Late Registration really put me off. This album just kind of sounds like Kanye making an album for himself, doing stuff he likes, having fun, rather than attempting weighty musical statements. Tracks like "Everything I Am" feel genuine, and consequently, pull off more emotional weight than prior attempts, while other songs, like the ridiculous "Drunk and Hot Girls" (featuring Mos Def and a very prominent Can sample) feel like something that kanye made while dicking around, eventually dressing it up for inclusion. It's a pretty stupid song, but its presence was very welcome.

Of course, most hip hop albums these days (ok, most hip hop albums in general) have their inconsistencies, but these lesser moments will inevitably end up being highlights to some other people- namely "Good Life" and "Champion," which I felt were pretty standard-issue Kanye. But overall, very impressive, lyrically, and musically. A really pleasant surprise.

yep, homecoming and the intro i like alot. i listen to good life for the weird tpain style beat. i like it, most of it atleast. I was dissappointed by Mos's track appearance, that song was pretty stupid. but Homecoming is great.

it's easily his best album. And his most fun.

"Drunk and Hot Girls" is a masterpiece.

I wouldn't cheer to soon.

the itunes tracklisting has 2 skits and does not include "Barry Bonds" so I want to wait and see what the final record looks like.

I just listened to the album and heard "Homecoming" and was like whattttt?????

I see some of you like the track. He already did that verse on a track before, and it's MUCH cooler. Especially if Chi-town means something to ya. It's probably my favorite track of his.

ha..yeah. When I heard "homecoming" I was the same. I prefer "Home" myself too...where is it from again? Ive had the mp3 for ages but cant remember where its from...is it a mixtape or the Japanese version of "late registration"?

Anyhoo...i like "Graduation". Its probably his most focused album. Some of it is a bit "Late Registration" by numbers, but most songs he takes his sound further.

The jay-z tribute is a bit much though.

My feelings are pretty much the same as yours. Especially concerning Late Registration. This sir, has made me interested in checking it out.

of course it will but the only people who care if it doesn't are 14 year olds who think 50 is "the best rapper alive and almost as good as tupac".

i pretty much laughed when i heard that...
