Led Zeppelin set to reform
A London show is being advertised
Led Zeppelin look set to reform for a gig at London's O2 Arena this autumn.
Although there has been no official announcement that the legendary rockers will perform again 27 years after they disbanded, advertisements appeared in the national press today (September 1) with top-price ticket and hotel packages on offer for £369.
A cheaper package from the Premier Entertainments company, including a night in a four-star hotel, is available for £269, reports This Is London.
Callers today were told: "It's just about to be officially announced."
Promoters subsequently told BBC 6 Music not to book tickets "just yet", but did not deny the story.
The reunion has been rumoured all year, and suspicions were further aroused when it was revealed the band would release a 2-CD 'Best Of' compilation called 'Mothership' on November 11.
It's thought that original drummer John Bonham's son Jason would replace him on drums. The band originally split following John's death aged 32 in 1980 after choking on his own vomit following an alcohol binge.
The three surviving members - John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page - briefly reunited at the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia in 1985 and at Atlantic Records' 40th birthday celebrations in 1988.

Plant's voice is fuuuuuuuuuuucked though. And I'd rather someone other than Jason Bonham, as fitting as he may be. But I doubt it will happen. And shabi, how can you post here when you dislike so much good stuff? It boggles the mind.:(

I went to that Plant/Page tour back in....96? Anyway, it was sort of overwrought and agonizing. I've heard and the bulk of the older live stuff available, they were incredibly great live in the day, that being the 1970's. Those who did go are still fucked up from those 70's shows.
I love the first five albums. That shit is so good it's amazing. Their sound and recording technique is stellar all the way through, even songs I ho hum about are mind-bending when you listen to the studio quality....in their day they actually had the swagger to pull it all off.

Zep is absolutely one of my favorite acts of all time, but I always thought they sucked live, even in their prime.

I don't hate it, I just don't care for it one way or the other.

i saw them in 95 and again in 98 as Page/Plant...
they did their whole Unledded MTV thing and they did a Middle Eastern thing with Kashmir and Friends and a few others... it was cool to see them collaborating again , but it wasnt groundbreaking...
then they released Walking Into Clarksdale, an album of new songs and won the "we should have given these guys a Grammy a long time ago " Grammy for their song "Most High"..
the best part of that tour, however, was seeing Page and Plant sitting on bar stools on stage, singing Going to California acoustic style...

They won't ever recapture their late-60s/70s glory days, so what's the point? It's not like they're broke or anything.

maybe they'll have some fun, make some people happy, and make some more money in the process.
I wouldn't go see them, but I certainly don't begrudge older bands getting back together and playing. if the audience and the enjoyment in playing together are there then why not.

imagine if bonham never died and they were making music during the 80's. i think it would have been embarrassing. they were already starting to fall into the trends of the late 70's. retarded zeppelin videos on mtv...

No way Turd.
They cared more about the integrity of their albums and their music than just about any band of their time.
Kiss would have put a piece of dog crap in a box and stamp "KISS" on it and try to sell it to their fans. Zep was the exact opposite.

I suspect (based on nothing, really) that Zep would have probably gone for a sort of heavy sound in the early 80's, taken a long hiatus and then made something akin to 'Pump'.

I dunno, I kinda like those Zeppelin synth sounds on "In Through The Out Door." If they started to ape Poison or whatever, then there would have been a problem.
just look at the cream reunion at the royal albert hall and floyd at live 8. they were phenomenal and schooled all of today's younger bands in the process. it doesn't really matter how old a band is. if they can still play as capable musicians and put on an amazing show, then all the power to them. considering just how talented jimmy page and john paul jones are, i think they'll do the same.

putting JPJ in the mix really does change things... he was the main creative force behind In Through the Out Door and Presence while Page was all jacked up on heroin and Plant was going through a major depression after his kid died...
JPJ's synth sounds I have always dug, All of My Love and Fool In the Rain, I'm Gonna Crawl and Carouselambra are all underappreciated favorites...
I would love to see what Jonesy brings to the table in this (alleged) reunion

Led Zeppelin Announcement Expected Next Week

Ray Waddell, Nashville
Talk of a Led Zeppelin reunion just refuses to go away.
Billboard reported in July that the band may get together for a proposed tribute to the late producer/record mogul Ahmet Ertegun at the O2 in London in November,
Now on Ledzeppelin.com the date 11.13.07 mysteriously appears with the familiar Zep symbols. And several people saw the band touring the O2 during Prince's recent stand at the new 20,000-seat London venue. A press conference next Wednesday (Sept. 12) in London may clear everything up.
There has been talk that tour producers AEG Live and Michael Cohl's CPI (Rolling Stones, Genesis, Barbra Streisand) have put in offers on a Zep tour featuring founding members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones with late drummer John Bonham's son Jason on drums. But it is also well known in the industry that standing offers have been on the table for a Led Zeppelin tour for more than a decade.
Nov. 13 also has another significance: it's the release date of a new Atlantic/Rhino two-disc, 24-track best-of set, "Mothership." Additionally, a deluxe reissue of the soundtrack to the 1976 concert film "The Song Remains the Same" with previously unreleased material and a new DVD edition of that movie will arrive Nov. 20 via Atlantic/Rhino and Warner Home Video, respectively.

According to sources in World Entertainment News Network[73], talks between Page, Plant and Jones suggest that if the reunion concert is a success, a tour may be considered.
in what way can it not be a success? sloppy playing?

OMG. I said this in a thread like a year ago and mickill slayed me.
I think In Through the Out Door is unfairly maligned. All of the ones you mentioned are in my Zep rotation.
