so, I couldn't pick up my truck until 4:30 on friday, even though I had reserved it over a month in advance. I didn't end up actually getting my truck until almost 6 p.m. because they had only 3 people working registers on one of the busiest moving days of the year. I was supposed to return the truck by 6 a.m.

after a hellish move, we finished around 3 a.m. and refilled the gas tank and returned the truck just before 4 a.m.

me and dude ate some food and went to sleep at 5 a.m.

UHAUL CALLS ME AT 8:30 A.M. and leaves a message that says I need to return the truck ASAP so as not to incur any other further late charges.

so I try to call back and nobody answers. I try and try and try for an hour and finally get through and talk to a lady and she says "no problem, we'll call you if we don't find it".

just as I'm falling asleep, UHAUL CALLS ME AGAIN AT 10:00 A.M. and I answer and the guy is like, "you need to return your truck". and I explain that I have returned it and already spoke to another person about it. no apology, but he says they'll look for it and call if they don't find it.

so, nobody called, because unless someone stole the truck, it's there. but those jerks ruined my sleep, I couldn't fall back asleep, so after a whole day of physical labor, I got maybe 4 good hours of sleep. ugh.

HOWEVER! I just got an email with my final contract and bill and they've charged me for going 33.9 miles! 99 cents a mile. I moved in town in the same god damn neighborhood, and went 7 miles tops!

anyway, I want my money back, those stupid fuckers. and I think everyone should boycott them!

I for one thought this thread was about having sex in a u-haul, and I have to say, I was pretty dissapointed that it wasn't.

i have heard u-haul sucks from other people so take the advice of someone that just finished moving a block and a half...PENSKE if there is one near you even if you gotta drive a few extra miles it is worth it...they go over their dings in the truck BEFORE you leave their lot so you don't return it and the hamfist conversation has to ensue ,trucks are clean, emploees are chill, automatic tranny even a granny (or mike) could drive(couldn't resist);)

That's the thing about those places -- they're almost designed to have you drop off after hours "for convenience," but then you don't get a receipt from anybody.

And don't rental trucks usually have those tracking devices in them, anyway? They used to, anyway. But maybe individual locations can't do that; maybe it's corporate.

lame. I only have used them once, and my boyfriend at the time used his card so I have no idea if there were additional issues. All I know is that it was a pain in the ass in general.

I have been fortunate in the last couple of moves that my workplace has a few trucks that we can borrow whenever we like.

I HATE moving.
