All cause they were drinking and driving. The driver has a broken neck and has to wear a halo and the passanger broke all his ribs, front and back, needs reconstructive surgery on his face and a punctured lung and is in intensive care.

Even though the driver was in the wrong for doing such a stupid thing, I do feel a little sorry for him cause for one thing, he hurt his best friend so bad that he's not going to have the same face. The driver is definitly looking at a felony dui once he gets out of the hospital.

I'm just glad, very glad that they didn't kill any innocent motorists cause of their stupid choice.

I hope things work out as best they can, after that.

There but for the grace of God go quite a few of us, I'll bet. I don't know how you live with yourself -- or forgive people -- after some stuff. Even when you should. That's got to be hard.

I got an update today.

The driver knows he was in the wrong and can accept any punishment that is coming his way. I just hope he's learned his lesson and I can't really turn my head away from him cause he didn't kill anyone. If he did then I'm sure that I'll never accept him as a friend anymore.

The other guy is out of intensive care, it's looking like he won't need reconstructive surgery on his face and he said only his right side (ribs) hurt. He's not angry at the driver cause he considers himself just about as guilty for allowing and getting in the car with him after drinking.

Yeah, it seems noone cares but, eh. I've known these guys for 20 years so, it's kind of a big deal to me and the first time I've experienced a dui accident with friends.

Hopefully the lesson sticks even after the shock wears off. These guys were pretty lucky, all in all. (y)
