I went and saw a pre-screen of it last night, sure alot of you got the e-mail from Yauch suggesting it....what to say?....well,the first 20 mins of the film are VERY disheartening, very bleak, even if you're aware of the crisis facing the planet or more accurately humanity....as George Carlin said "the planets not going anywhere we're the ones leaving, the planet’s gonna be fuck'n fine"....yes.....I really enjoyed that the film takes "Global Warming" and the impact of industry and population growth,etc,etc as a given fact....it does not try to defend the science behind what is obviously a man made phenomena....so yes, tough stuff.....the last 20 mins of the film does however provide a window for hope if not outright optimism,if we as a global community, all get on board and embrace a massive scientific, economic and cultural swing towards the sustainable use of resources…..time to re-think,re-use,re-develop how, what and why we consume....I recommend it quite highly but then again it was a case of Mr DiCaprio preaching to a highly converted parishioner….(y)
