I think it's pretty obvious what's happened here. A team of crack ninja assassins recruited her into their gang, fulfilling the ancient prophecy of a young English girl who would bring harmony to the Earth. Through a series of intensive and immersive training they will discipline her into the deadliest woman on the planet, and she will be a millionaire by the time she reaches 16 from all the high profile hits she has undertaken. One day she will single handedly overthrow the American and British governments and become the most powerful and respected woman in the world.
Until then her parents just need to chill and be patient.

What kind of parents leave a three year old and two year old twins alone in an apartment?

The thing is though, if the parents killed her, why the relentless push to keep the story in the media and the pressure on the police? Seems to me if they had done it they would have wanted to try to weather the initial media storm, then let it fade down and go on quietly out of the spotlight.

I don't think that the parents are involved, but it wouldn't be unheard of. The first I heard was that the parents had asked to be given the status of 'arguida' or suspect because it would give them more rights when they are being interviewed.
It breaks my heart everytime i see Madeleine on the news now, especially now i have a child myself.
And jammytastic, 'Madeleine Whatsherface'? Please. :(

Really, though. No matter how hard they were kicking themselves for doing it, it's just not cool. My parents left me alone heaps as a kid, and they're faaaaaaarrrrkin lucky nothing ever happened. And sleepy old NZ is one thing, in Europe (where weirdos come and go internationally), fuck that.

I thought this to, but today the thought occurred to me that maybe only one parent is actually in on it and is keeping it from the other. This would seem really unlikely but from the little I know about the details, it may just be possible for the mother to be the killer and the father to be driving the media storm in good faith.
Apparently the rental car where the forensic evidence was found was rented 25 days after she went missing, ie suggesting they were moving the body. Freaky and tragic.

I was talking to a co-worker about this the other day after there was a news story on the radio about a 30-odd year old woman who had gone missing and her family and police were 'now concerned about her welfare'. She went missing last November...
Who decides how long these people can go missing for before something is done? It can be months like the above, or within a week the story is on Crimewatch.

To cover up the fact they were guilty. Remember the Laci Peterson case, the convicted hubby was also pushing the media to help find Laci when all along he himself was the one behind her killing.
And I agree what kind of person/parent leaves behind kids alone on holiday. I found this disturbing post someone posted on a site reguarding this . That they were glad it the parents killed her rather than a stranger...that is just awful, no matter who did it. I think it was on aol.
You know this story is still in the news. Just read* another piece on it
On Jade Goody's funeral day as well.
*I read a headline and formed an opinion on the whole thing. I don't wanna know when >140 characters.

beware, there are people on this board who will call you racist for that remark
The parents are complicit in this crime no matter if they killed her or not, they left her (a 3 year old child) alone. Who the Hell does that !?!?!
I can't believe this isn't in the U.S. media much, these kind of cases are exceptionally sensationalized.
The shit people do to children around this world is sickening

oh I understand - it is not I who think the comment is racist. I was called one in another thread when I basically said the same thing
I don't get it, why would you care about a non-white person anyway?
