I decided to get tickets to the Richmond Busch and Nascar races this weekend. My brother-in-law is a big racin' fan so I thought I would surprise him with some boletos. I am not a Nascar fan but I used to cover the races when I worked as a news photographer. I worked the Dover Delaware and Richmond Va races and saw the races from pit road. It should be good people watching and I am looking forward to giving it a chance.

I remember seeing Dale Earnhardt win the Dover race and then hop in a rental car and drive out of the track after the race. You would think that after driving 500 miles he would give up the wheel and take a rest.

This isn't really much of a thread but I thought I would share my plans for my redneck weekend.
Yeehaw!

I don't know but I do know that the Saturday night race is sold out. Something like 120,000 people will be at the night race. I think Nascar might have overtaken Formula 1 in popularity but I could be wrong.

Nascar is the Most popular motor sport in the USA. In the World scene it has nothing in popularity against F1.

I'm not a Nascar fan, I hate oval tracks and stock cars. I'm not a huge F1 fan to be honest but I do like the engineering and technology that goes into the cars/racing.

You are probably correct. Nascar was very popular in the southern states and over the years has caught on in popularity throughout the US. I read an article last year talking about how Formula 1's popularity had dwindled and some drivers have decided to give the Nascar circuit a try. I know that the Nascar fans tend to think of Formula 1 as a bunch of elitists driving jets on wheels and Formula 1 fans think stock car racers are a bunch of hillbillies making left turns in a tin can with an engine.

The race tonight and tomorrow night are under the lights so that aspect will liven my interest.
