Yo, fellow remixers deejay's and other punkasses :D I got an idea i wanna work out with all of you guys. Since the Beastiemixes.com collaboration didn't work out the way everyone hoped it would and DJZap and Cosmo Kramer spilled some of their rhymeskills, i thought it'll be a nice idea to write a Beastiemixes.com rap..... Yes, a Beastiemixes.com rap. Here's the deal:

I start out with the first line of the rap and send it to the first deejay on the Beastiemixes.com deejaylist. That would be 7x5. You, 7x5, think of the second line and send the two lines to the next deejay, in this case, Alex Westmore...ect, etc, etc.... At the end of the list we would have a nice set of lyrics to create a Beastiemixes.com rap:D

You in or not? Let me know what you guys think and we'll see from here....

I'm curious too.....When we did the "collabfiasco", there were about 50 dj's on BM.COM....And in the end, when you break it down, only 10 winded up participating (6 mixes, 2 of them submitted by the same duo).....And that was for a collaboration of what we do best....Which is remix......I wonder, out of the 71 dj's that we have now, how many are gonna have the balls to actually write a line, and record it? We shall see....I can't wait till we have enough tho.....There should be a backup plan, just incase we do not have enough in the end...No? Like 2 lines each or something....

That's a really good idea, Zap. If we wind up not having enough people for the original idea, this sounds like a really good way to go.....Because maybe there are DJ's that WANT to participate, but don't want to have their voice heard (literally)....Your idea still gives them a way to contribute by making a loop and not having to write lyrics or record....And who knows, everyone might not have a microphone....Anyway, like Zap said tho, whichever way we go on this, i'm stilil in....

Do you have a stereo mic? I would not use a stereo mic for a single vocal track. if the only mic you have is a stereo then you should still just make a mono recording. I would pan the main vocal track to the middle and the backing vocals to left/right. but there's no rule for that. if you're mixing with headphones you can just try what you like best. the vocals mixed to the middle is more like speaking directly in your face. if you have any fx plug-ins you could try delays, reverb or even distortion. good luck.....

I'm pretty sure that beat was just so we can get things going and to have something to work with while recording....I think once we have all the acapellas, the people who are not rapping are gonna toss something up using the same beat and their own music....Is that right? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Has anyone here ever used the "Antares Auto-Tune" plugin for vocals....I just got it yesterday, and it's AWESOME....If you tune it right, you can get the voice like Cher had in "Believe" and also the voice from "California Love" with dre, and 2pac ("California, knows how to party").....And if you want to get even more recent....Like T-Pain(I really didn't want to drop his name).....

Actually, Cos, on 'California Love' they are using a talk box (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk_box), similar to Zapp and Peter Frampton. Just to be precise:p and they are pretty difficult to use well, quite the opposite of auto tuners that are made basically to correct for people that can't sing accurately, although there are some times where it is used as an artistic effect (like that Cher song)

yep. i didnt find out it was a talkbox till a few days ago. i dont know what it is about the talkbox, but the last few days the only thing that i have been doing is reading up on and watching youtube videos about the talkbox. i'm really fascinated with it, man..the way it sounds, the way you use it, just everything about it. i'm really considering buying myself a new keyboard and a talkbox. i have no idea how to use either of them, but when i feel like this about something, im down to do whatever it takes. and i cant wait any longer. anyway, yeah, the fucking talkbox rocks.

My computer is shot, since two days ago and it keeps failing during the boot process and doesnt load to windows. i tried everything to my computer tech knowledge to fix this problem, and the only thing it could be is a motherboard problem, which is beyond me. So i'm not going to be able to do shit until i get a new computer. Which should be sometime in the next two weeks, or so. It's a good thing my Wii has internet, or i wouldnt be writing this. which is also why i've been watching alot of talkbox videos on youtube. and i cant even listen to any new shit on beastiemixes. the wii browser doesnt seem to play mp3s. which is wack. But anyway, it took me 6 years to write all this shit. ill be back in the act as soon as i can, fellas.

Finally.....I'm back in the act fellas...Got another hand-me-down computer from work a couple of days ago...It feels so good to type on a REAL keyboard...Anyway, I'm gonna get working on my verse and will give it to Mr. Chromium 5 as soon as i'm done...I bought myself a talkbox on Friday and have been caught up on learning how to use it, which sucks right now because the sythesizer/keyboard that I bought on ebay hasn't come yet and have been using a program that lets you use your pc keyboard as a midi controller...Very annoying....Any way..."To The BatCave"(like i'm not already in it), I got work to do...

The Beastiemixes box just blew up tonight. C drive kicked the bucket. I've run a bunch of file recovery tools on it and it's f-ing dead. So tomorrow I'm probably re-loading Windows onto a new HD, and starting fresh, This is my hell. The Beastiemixes stuff was backed up about a week ago, so not too many worries. But I think I might not have dumped some of my digital camera pics before the backup. Kids Birthday pics (Not my kids) can't be recovered. Arrrrrgh.

I'm 1 40oz. and 3 shots of tequilla into this mess and I'm hatin' life already. I work in the I.T. department as my profession, but this shit is never fun when it's your own computer that's taken a crap, even if you've backed up the day before.

7 year old computer, I shoulda' f-ing known I was on borrowed time..... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!

'Tis a pleasure hombre. I'm just happy that someone listens to what I, and all of us here, do with what we have. So, thank YOU.

I'm actually working on 2 different versions. The one you hear above with each MC getting thier own backing track and another, slightly funkier / groovier, more party-esque one.

What I'll also do, is make the full aca of all the MC's available as 1 track so everyone can have a go and do with it as they please. Tempo will stay at 100 bpm. As you can hear, the differences in recording quality make it impossible to level things out but I've cleaned the vox up a bit to make them a little brighter.

2 more verses to add ( DJ Zap and Cosmo) - I'll have them done over the weekend. ( I hope I saved the settings for the vocals....)

Is there anyone else to drop or are we ready with 6?
