Any of you ever have acupuncture? What do/did you think about it?

I'm thinking about making an appointment with a place that comes highly recommended by a good friend.

I had it a bunch of times for relaxation. Highly recommended if you have someone who knows what they're doing. (y)

I got my jaw fucked in a road crash and the hospital made me had it. It sorted me out a treat... It may well be psychosematic, but it worked.

I used it in combination with physio and massage therapy to treat a pinched nerve a couple of years back, the first time I had it I got a funky rash....(n).....I think it helped but it may also have been the combination of other treatments as well......it's covered under my health plan,I should try it like A-Z did for relaxation....oh,and a friend swears it helped her quit smoking....

Here's a weird one:

If you're going to sneeze but for some reason really don't want to, press the... what is it? septum? -- the spot above your upper lip right below your nose. Supposedly this is an pressure point in acupuncture and you won't sneeze.

I keep forgetting to do it, though.

I'll give it a shot... and the acupuncture, too.

why would anyone not want to sneeze? I love sneezing! I guess maybe if you're in church....eh. What's with those peeps that hold their noses when they sneeze...I hear that's not good it's like supposed to backfire or something.

For me, right now, sneezing hurts like hell (fractured rib). So if I can avoid knifelike pain on occasion, I go for it. (y)

But anyway, that's how I found out about it. I was surfing for various info about people's experiences with ribs healing (my doctor
wasn't particularly helpful), and a conversation had turned to coughing/sneezing, and someone chimed in with the acupressure thing.

I actually remembered to try it yesterday, and it worked.

I had it when I was pregnant, when I had gone past my due date, to try to induce labour 'naturally' so I did not have to be induced chemically. The hospital was offering it free as part of a pilot study. Unfortunately it did not work for me.

I keep forgetting to do it, though.I should've read this thread half an hour ago! I just sneezed about a dozen time! Usually I sneeze twice...

I use acupressure quite alot. I've got a book with pics explaining which pressure point to use for headache, travel nausea, sleepiness etc.
There's a couple of spots that I use regularly (mainly cause I can't remember which one it should be) when I get a bit sleepy at parties and gigs
and don't want to yawn. On your left hand index finger press really hard with your right thumb just under the right lower corner under the nail,
pretty effective, and also if you keep your left hand's index finger and thumb as an L and press really hard on the corner point where bones start,
sort of the place you put salt when drinking tequila shots.

I should dig that book up and update my memory...
