I saw this on CNN the other day. Usually people post this sort of thing and I can see how the incident occurred, and there's blame to go around,

The interview he did with CNN basically said that he'd gotten a speeding (or traffic) ticket in the past which he felt was undeserved, so he thought he'd install a camera to have evidence in the future.

That seems kind of weird, to roll with a camera on you all the time, but that's the story.

I agree that the cop is an a-hole but so is the driver of the vehicle. When a police officer comes to your vehicle you do not say-what did I do? In a smartass voice. You also do not reach for stuff unless asked.

The times I have been stopped I address the officer in a friendly manner and I have never had a problem. I have even gotten out of a couple of tickets.

Oh, yeah, this video should be scrapped because I also agree that the clicking is annoying.

There is a reason police officers are very jumpy in traffic stops and isolated areas. Just ask the officers in Miami where an officer was killed yesterday.

yeah, respect is earned. there is no law that says you have to treat someone with respect or address an officer any special way. just because the guy is a cop doesnt mean he has to be called as 'sir' or whatever. fuck that. so long as the guy is cooperating, answering the questions, doing what is asked of him, he shouldnt be penalized.

fuck treating cops with respect. it goes both ways. if an officer is nice to you, then fine, be nice to him. but if he's being an asshole to you, all he gets is the bare minimum.

besides that, the guy asked a legitimate question. i dont think he did anything wrong.

Generally, I agree with you, Yeti, but this kid came off as more defensive than smartass. Car camera notwithstanding, he's not very savvy --
at least about dealing with cops -- but that's no reason for this policeman to go from zero to sixty immediately, let alone starting in with
threats and stuff. That's not professional at all, and I'm sure it's got to be illegal. He's basically doing the exact opposite of what he's sworn
to do, and there's no excuse for that.

I agree with what bionic says but I choose to be respectful because it works. If you listen to the kid he has disdain in his voice. He is also in a dark desserted lot. This is no reason for the cop to go on a tirade but shit happens. The cop is a dick I think we can all agree on that fact.
In this case my bet is that both the cop and kid are assholes.

the general paranoia level involved with me and cops tells me to shut the fuck up and listen what they say or else they will find the stash and I get rolled...

there have been too many close calls for me to go all 5th amendment and constitutional rights all over the Five-Oh...
