So my girlfriend is getting headaches from her birth control. She's on the orthotricyclin lo generic. What do you suggest?

my mommy loves me
That's debatable. But seriously, I know there was a birth control thread not too long ago, but the steelers were playing and 500 threads popped up when I tried to search it (498 of those were from barb) lol, whatever. I remember reading that thread taking away from it that Queen Adrock and Cosmo posted some nice insights, so ladies, please. I'd love you for it.

Skip the pills!
They do more damage to female bodies than they want to be known.
Use other methods instead, condoms for example (protects from VD's as well, which pill doesn't). I think coil is the best, cause you won't even know it's there and you don't have to worry changing it for several years.

Get her pregnant and make her have abortions all the time but like make hand puppets out of the abortions and make it into a traveling circus show.

nah
make it those string type puppets. who the fuck wants to put aborted fetuses on their hands? YUCK!
Consult physician and ask for something lower in hormones/estrogen/whatever. A billion different BCs out there. OTC Lo is an old standby- meat market kinda.
Or maybe she'd consider the ring?

Thought I might catch you or Adam at the Aesop/Cage show, too bad. Especially you at the BRMC show. Townies are always downers.

I'd suggest she go back to her doctor and dicuss it with him/her. there are lots of pills and reason why this could be happening and a medical professional who knows her health history would give her better advice than the internets.;)

Hey what's the coil?!
DIGI...is this her first time on the pill? I had a hard time with the pill when I first went on...took a while for everyone to get used to the new level of bitchyness.

Hey what's the coil?!
Just a little thing (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/sex_relationships/facts/contraceptivecoil.htm) to put inside you, better than any other female contraceptive (imho).
This text claims you might get heavier periods because of it, but I didn't experience anything like that. I had it for several years, and once after five years when I was going to get it changed I experienced some unusual flow, but the reason for that was something else...

No, she's been on it for a while, but they keep changin her brand up. She's taking a new generic and it's giving her chronic headaches. I remember either Queen Adrock or Cosmo mention a type of birth control pill and they loved it. I can't remember what it's called, though.

I want an IUD as well but as I stated in a previous thread , my doctor refuses to do it for me for because he does not want to assume the liability. he says he does not feel it's a good idea for young women who have not had or are undecided about having kids. the risk of infection is high and they say the IUD can cause enough damage that you will be unable to conceive. they are mainly recommending IUDs to women who don't want ANY MORE children and who have a monogamous partner.

there was a new, smaller IUD approved by the fda for women of my stature and age but apparently some doctors are wary of giving it to unmarried women because they assume that you sleep around (or your partner does) and therefore are more likely to catch an STD. if you caught something while you had an IUD, it could travel up into your tubes and really fuck up your system. but after explaining to a couple of docs what my situation was, they both seemed fine with doing it for me...but i don't know when i'll be able to actually do it. until then, condoms are fine.
the pill is pure concentrated evil.

I suggest that she talks to her doctor and you quit getting medical advice from the BBMB.....dummy

condoms suck. i'd rather just beat off than have sex with a condom.

Dude, I'm not REALLY looking for medical advice. It must have been Queen Adrock that said she had side effects on birth control until her doc put her on some new stuff and she loved it. Just lookin for a name.

Shit that made me laugh and I'm supposed to be working.
Congratulations, that's the first funny thing you've said. :)

And DIGI, as much as I would love you to experience the financial instability and social damage that an unplanned baby would cause you, I'll try and give you some advice.
It may be obvious and you've probably already considered it but does your girlfriend smoke? Has she been on antibiotics recently? My girlfriend has had to change her pill twice because of the above, she was getting some nasty side effects from her pill, in the end she had to stop taking it for a while. I mean even after the antibiotics the pill was still fucked up and wouldn't work again. You might want to consider that if she's getting these reactions then the contraception might not be working. I still splooged inside my woman the whole time though, luckily I'm infertile from all the drinking and smoking. (y)
But anyway the best thing is for her to go to a doctor and ask for a different pill, I'm sure there's one out there that'll suit her.
Damn it Lopp, you need to look at the big picture here. Digi needs our help, and the world needs him to not procreate.
Needs OUR help? Dude, you've been useless. I shouldn't be surprised when your waistline is a higher number than your IQ.
Thanks, Padster. She only has another week and a half on this pill, so she's trying to wait it out.
You haven't given me any kind of helpful knowledge whatsoever. You are so out of your element when you try to be humorous, though. I almost feel embarassed for you. I'm serious. Watching you try to be funny is like watching a retarded kid trying to solve a calculus problem.
Yes, yes I have. I sit in front of a mirror and watch myself solve equations.
Is there anything funny that you can say that doesn't seem like you pulled it from some shitty early 90's comedy movie?
