That was ridiculous. All they had to do was usher him out of the room.

i think the kid was just being an ass and would not leave the mic after his time was up. apparently he was at the mic for quite a while after the time allotted for questions. in the video the police were already standing behind him as if they were already called over to usher him away and he just refused to leave and kept asking questions. so they had to turn of the mic and grab him. he refused the whole time to leave. he went spastic and fought back so they zapped him. mother fucker should have just left when he was told to. seems fair to me. he was fighting them the whole time.

This is downright reasonable, Turd. (y)

well everyone else(that didn't witness this in person) is gonna have sympathy for this ass and it's gonna turn into some retarded media circus.

in that article the reader was led to beleive that the kid was not out of reason. i bet if that video showed the full time from the beginning it would have shown them asking him to leave.

they tried to usher him out of the room and he threw a great big fit. im sure when he first started jumping up and down yelling "they're arresting me" they were actually arresting him, but trying to get him to leave, then he started to freak out and cause problems. you cant see whats going on after they get him on the floor, so i cant say whether the tazer was really necessary or not... probably not, but in any case he seemed like one of those loud annoying obnoxious guys that always has to give their stupid opinion in class and talks over people, so he deserved it.

Oh, yeah. I mean, that's the story -- "Student Tasered at campus forum for Kerry" -- as if he were a victim. I don't think the cops' behavior was egregious. It's not like the dude who got accosted for parking in the private lot so late, and the cop started going off about how he'd make up charges against the kid, etc.

This guy made a choice not to be civil, and that's cool if you feel a moral need to disrupt peaceful assembly, but you can't expect no reprecussion.

Another part I liked was John Kerry droning lifelessly on in the background while all the shit went down. Sounds like the forum could have used a little excitement.

There were at least 5 cops and the taser was not nescessary. The guy was an idiot but using a taser is laughable. They should have just cuffed him on then hauled him off to jail.

It is sad when 5 cops can't cuff a punk kid.

he deserved it for just being an ass. they could have also added a knee drop to the face while he was crying like a bitch to shut him the fuck up.

Yeti

Well, I would agree that the kid could use a good beating but I bet he will sue and get a settlement. You watch. He will be on Larry King or the Today Show and the cops gave him exactly what he wanted. Noteriety and grounds for a lawsuit.

I hate the University of Florida so the entire student body should be tasered.

I have a friend that is a cop and did you know that all police officers have to be tasered? They do it so the policemen know the affect and feeling they inflict when using the gun.

Speaking of tasers.....it is always fun to watch.

id probably cry, and generally guys get weirded out by girls crying. i woudlnt want to make you feel bad for tasering me.

probably it hurts a hell of a lot worse than anything id really want to endure too

The article points out that the student has a website dedicated to practical jokes and unorganized political diatribes.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/18/student.tasered/index.html

CNN) -- Two University of Florida police officers have been placed on leave with pay after using an electronic stun gun to subdue a student who was questioning Sen. John Kerry at a campus forum, the school's president said Tuesday.
The Florida Division of Law Enforcement will investigate Monday's arrest of student Andrew Meyer, said J. Bernard Machen. Machen called the incident "regretful for us."

I just thought it was interesting the student brought that up to Kerry. It seems so irrelevant and yet the student was immediately escorted out after that question. I'd like to hear more of the student's rant.

that's the part of the video you see, anyway. when the video started, the cops were already surrounding him, that "question" seems to have been the straw that broke the camel's back. i'm sure he had some hard-hitting follow-up questions about the illuminati and the zionist conspiracy, it really is a shame we didn't get to hear them

this is like a real life version of the "roger the peasant" scene from monty python and the holy grail. "help, help, i'm being oppressed" etc

Mr Meyer’s lawyer, Robert Griscti, said it appeared his client had been shocked after handcuffs had been put on him.

A lawyer. Hmmmm

Andrew Meyer, the student who begged: 'Don’t Tase me bro!', becomes internet star

The tactics of police in Florida who Tasered a cheeky student as he tried to question former presidential candidate Senator John Kerry have been called into question after a video of the incident was posted on the internet.
The officers responsible have been suspended on full pay while the debate rages over whether the student was a victim of police brutality or an attention-seeking prankster who got what he deserved.

The student, Andrew Meyer, who was well-known on campus for his practical jokes, was Tasered after jumping the queue to ask Mr Kerry a series of questions in a Florida University lecture hall on Monday.

you were right I was lead to believe the student had nothing reasonable to be escorted outside and tazed. however, viewing this video did help input my view in a better perspective of the situation. gathering from everyone's point of views it is safe to say this student a total douche bag indeed(n)

since he was asked to stop could he had gotten himself in trouble for harassment?
