After hearing "stronger" by Kanye West a few times I couldn't help but think that it reminded me of another song. I finally figured it out. This may just be me, but it remindes me of "Intergalactic".
No lycically i don't see any significant resemblences but I can say that the electronic voice (courtesy of Daft Punk) reminds me very much of "Intergalactic Planetary Planetary Intergalactic". Also the beat of the songs are pretty similiar if you listen to them alternately.
Anyway, I'm not saying they're identical or that Kanye ripped off the Beasties. So I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed these similiarities or agrees with me. Thanks.

Well, I heard he was gay. I don't really ever listen to his music. I saw the cd at walmart the other day.

Sure you aren't thinking of nygel's mash (http://beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=82074)? :)

I know this is kinda off subject, but does anyone know whose record sold more, Kayne or 50's? I'm putting my money on Kanye but I want to be sure. I think we all agree it's time for 50 to put down the mic and walk it out. (n)

Ummm, listen to the Daft Punk song, I don't think it sounds like Intergalactic, but to each their own.

Sound nothing like each other..IMO

The sound nothing alike really. They both have some futuristic noises in it but that is it. Tons of artists have futuristic 'sounds' and obviously the most notable current one is daft punk.
Daft punk was also NOT the one to introduce that voice sound. The vocoder has been around since the 1930's and used in music since the 70's. Peter Frampton and Zapp and Roger are famous users of one.
Its funny, some where (maybe here) people were talking about how the beasties revolutionized things by using the Vocoder in SGTG.

I wonder how Bob Dylan would sound with a vocoder. Probaly eerie.

Intergalactic is a far better song that Stronger in my opinion. Beastie Boys song or not, hands down superior.

I never really liked Intergalactic, to be fair, so I'm not being entirely objective.

I just heard "Stronger". That's pretty much what he says, thru the entire cut. Which is NO comparision to Adrocks, Mike's and Yauchs lyrical masterpiece.
The robotic voice in STRONGER, sounds more like Cher's, "power of love", or one of Shania Twain's songs ....opposed to "intergalactic" which sounds more of a Speak n Spell on crack :D....or the classic retro-ic MR ROBOTO (y)
The beat in Kanye's, "stronger" is NO where near.... the crash, bass-boomin, snap, crakle and pop of "INTERGALACTIC"
I can see how someone can be reminded of the two tracks NOW thanks to this thread....but im relieved that there is no comparison between the two.
Have a one of our DJ's mix up the two....and call it a day.
U know,...." Stir-fry it in a WOK"

Peter Frampton used a "talkbox", not a vocoder, sir.
Remember when Cher used a vocoder on that do you believe song? That was some crazy shit.
That was actually heavy, creative use of "auto-tune", not a vocoder, sir.

Thanks for the clarification. That was a brain fart on my end as I recall hearing that a long time ago.
I think they even lied originally about he cher song and auto tune as it was a new product at the time. I could be wrong though...

It sounds like the snare drums are basically the exact same timbre, although the snare on Intergalactic isn't as loud, and they're repeated at pretty much the exact same speed. Combine that with the use of the Daft Punk digital vocal sample and of course the two sound alike - anyone who says they have nothing in common isn't listening very closely. By the way, I'm not saying they sound enough alike to claim Kanye was biting Intergalactic in any way, or that he sampled the same snare drum or anything like that, just saying there are similarities.

What about the original version of intergalactic? How does everyone feel about that one?
